Título : Emergent Phenomena in Housing Markets : Gentrification, Housing Search, Polarization Tipo de documento: documento electrónico Autores: SpringerLink (Online service) ; Lidia Diappi Editorial: Heidelberg : Physica-Verlag HD Fecha de publicación: 2013 Número de páginas: XIV, 186 p Il.: online resource ISBN/ISSN/DL: 978-3-7908-2864-1 Idioma : Inglés (eng) Palabras clave: Regional planning Urban economics Spatial Social structure inequality Economics Regional/Spatial Science Landscape/Regional and Planning Structure, Inequality Clasificación: 658 Empresas. Organización de empresas Resumen: The housing market, like every market, is the product of thousands of interacting buyers and sellers driven by different interests. But unlike other markets, the housing market is able to profoundly transform the socioeconomic structure and the image of a city. Very often, changes in urban space are the result of the imperceptible operation of a multitude of micro-transformations which act with such great energy and decisiveness that they can transform the ‘DNA’ of entire urban neighborhoods. These qualitative novelties, unpredictable and non-deducible on the basis of the previous properties, are defined emergences. Namely emergence means a ‘pattern formation’ characterized by a self-organizing process driven by non-linear dynamics. This book explores housing market emergence in light of three different phenomena: search for housing, social polarization, and gentrification. The book is divided into two parts. The first part presents contributions on modelling emergence of different phenomena, formalised in multi-agent systems. The second part gathers empirical research and analyses aimed at supporting the findings of the models Nota de contenido: Introduction -- Part I: Modeling the Spatial Behavior of Agents -- Part II: Empirical Investigations En línea: http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/978-3-7908-2864-1 Link: https://biblioteca.cunef.edu/gestion/catalogo/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=36680 Emergent Phenomena in Housing Markets : Gentrification, Housing Search, Polarization [documento electrónico] / SpringerLink (Online service) ; Lidia Diappi . - Heidelberg : Physica-Verlag HD, 2013 . - XIV, 186 p : online resource.

Título : Extreme Inequalities in Contemporary Capitalism : Should We Be Concerned About the Rich? Tipo de documento: documento electrónico Autores: Maurizio Franzini ; Elena Granaglia ; SpringerLink (Online service) ; Michele Raitano Editorial: Cham : Springer International Publishing Fecha de publicación: 2016 Otro editor: Imprint: Springer Número de páginas: X, 128 p. 13 illus Il.: online resource ISBN/ISSN/DL: 978-3-319-28811-6 Idioma : Inglés (eng) Palabras clave: Political economy Ethics Economic policy Social Labor economics structure inequality Economics Policy Structure, Inequality Economy Clasificación: 330 Economía en general Resumen: This book explores the mechanisms by which top incomes are achieved through work in today's advanced economies and asks to what extent current extreme inequalities are compatible with widely held values of social justice. Reflecting on the heterogeneity of the working rich, the authors argue that very high earnings often result not from heightened competition induced by globalization but rather from a lack of competition, or at best deficient competition. It is proposed that such incomes cannot be justified in terms of efficiency or merit and do not generate positive trickle-down effects with benefits for all of society; rather, extreme inequalities in earnings risk jeopardizing equality of opportunity. The book concludes by offering a wide array of innovative policy prescriptions that are not punitive in intent and are not merely directed toward income redistribution. Readers will find the book to be a fascinating source of insights into the subject of the working rich, which remains largely unexplored within both economics and ethics Nota de contenido: 1 The planet of the rich: an exploration -- 2 The super-rich, competition and power -- 3 The super-rich: a matter of desert? -- 4 Extreme inequality, well-being, freedom -- 5 Why worry about the super-rich? The reasons and possible remedies En línea: http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/978-3-319-28811-6 Link: https://biblioteca.cunef.edu/gestion/catalogo/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=42197 Extreme Inequalities in Contemporary Capitalism : Should We Be Concerned About the Rich?
