Título : Professionalizing Public Relations : History, Gender and Education Tipo de documento: documento electrónico Autores: Kate Fitch ; SpringerLink (Online service) Editorial: London : Palgrave Macmillan UK Fecha de publicación: 2016 Otro editor: Imprint: Palgrave Macmillan Número de páginas: XIX, 154 p Il.: online resource ISBN/ISSN/DL: 978-1-137-57309-4 Idioma : Inglés (eng) Palabras clave: Business Public relations Industrial sociology and Management Corporate Communication/Public Relations Sociology of Work Clasificación: 658 Empresas. Organización de empresas Resumen: This groundbreaking study offers new insights into public relations history with a focus on the changing relationship between women and public relations, the institutionalization of public relations education, and the significance of globalization in Australia in the second half of the twentieth century. Drawing on archival and interview research, it reveals how the industry's professionalization led to the development of an occupational identity along national and gendered lines. It also challenges common misconceptions around the origins of public relations and women's early contributions and careers. Adopting a critical approach, Professionalizing public relations avoids corporatist perspectives on the historical development of public relations by focusing on the processes of professionalization and their significance for gender and education, and by situating this study in a broader global context. The findings reveal dynamic and contested conceptualizations of public relations knowledge and expertise, and the significance of historical processes for contemporary understandings of the industry. Kate Fitch is a senior lecturer and Academic Chair at Murdoch University, Australia. Her research interests include gender and public relations, promotional and popular culture, and public relations history. Prior to joining Murdoch University in 2001, Kate worked in public relations and management in arts, community and government sectors. Organización de empresas Resumen: Contributing pioneering new research, this innovative book proposes new ways and directions in which to extend the influential 'business networks perspective' approach to doing business. While previous research has focused upon relationships with customers and suppliers, the authors argue that there is a need to expand the outlook to include other stakeholders. Taking a stand in a broad management perspective, chapters relate contemporary issues within industrial and international marketing, product innovation, and information systems. Challenging existing views and proposing elaborate alternatives; this volume examines a range of examples that have inspired researchers to extend the business network. To provide further understanding, Extending the Business Network Approach relates current and new research to territories, technologies and terms to reveal novel insights, and to encourage further directions for research. It also examines its impact at the economic, political and societal levels with respect to governance, democratic structures, education and health. India has competitive edge of historical goodwill and it is one of the most important countries engaging Africa in the 21st Century. For Africa, India has emerged from an aid recipient country to a major aid provider but on a basis of partnership model. The book provides a contemporary analysis and assessment of Indo-Africa relations, bringing together contributions from the Global South and from the North that explore whether the relationship is truly 'mutually beneficial' Nota de contenido: Chapter 1. Organización de empresas Resumen: Though considerable research literature is now available on China–India relations, most of it still follows a conventional narrative, viewing the relationship through the narrow conflictual prism limited to South Asia than in the new, larger perspective, especially in the context of emerging East Asian dynamics. This book offers comprehensive analyses of some of these issues in papers addressing two broad themes. One, significant trends in the relationship between China and India on a range of issues, including economic development models, their military strategies, and the boundary dispute; and two, how others are responding to the rise of India and China and their impact on East Asia. Together, the chapters constitute a comprehensive study on both China–India relations and their concurrent rise, including a variety of perspectives and methodologies. Written by some of the top experts on the subject from India, China, Japan, and Taiwan and covering a broad range of issues, the book will generate considerable interest in understanding this relatively neglected dimension of today’s East Asia Nota de contenido: Chapter 1.
