Título : Architectural Tourism : Building for Urban Travel Destinations Tipo de documento: documento electrónico Autores: Jan Specht ; SpringerLink (Online service) Editorial: Wiesbaden : Springer Fachmedien Wiesbaden Fecha de publicación: 2014 Otro editor: Imprint: Springer Gabler Número de páginas: XIV, 199 p. 115 illus Il.: online resource ISBN/ISSN/DL: 978-3-658-06024-4 Idioma : Inglés (eng) Palabras clave: Business Tourism Management Architecture Urban planning City and Architecture, general Urbanism Clasificación: 658 Empresas. Organización de empresas Resumen: Since the early times of travelling architecture does constitute an important force of attraction and a vital element in marketing. Until today destinations try to increase their market positions by means of the development and restoration of the built environment. However, architecture is characterised by an enduring presence with impacts on visitors and residents alike. Hence, on a sustainable basis it needs to chime with place and situation. Where modesty might be suitable for one destination, spectacular architecture could be a transformation catalyst or unique selling proposition for another. Destination developers have to be aware of the local requirements as well as the reciprocal relationship between the modern practice of tourism and the built environment. To address the complexity of architectural tourism, throughout the book this topic is subject of a controversial discussion and approached with a contextual and interdisciplinary view. Contents Tourism and the Built Environment Architectural Tourism in the Spatial and Temporal Urban Context Contemporary Architecture and the Destination Image Architectural Tourism and the Spectaculture Target Groups Researchers, lecturers and students of tourism, architecture, urbanism and marketing Planners, developers, marketers and managers of travel destinations, Tourists interested in architecture About the Author Dr. Jan Specht is Professor of Business Administration at IUBH International University in Munich, Germany. Título : Urban Innovation Networks : Understanding the City as a Strategic Resource Tipo de documento: documento electrónico Autores: Alexander Gutzmer ; SpringerLink (Online service) Editorial: Cham : Springer International Publishing Fecha de publicación: 2016 Otro editor: Imprint: Springer Número de páginas: X, 123 p. 11 illus., 1 illus. in color Il.: online resource ISBN/ISSN/DL: 978-3-319-24624-6 Idioma : Inglés (eng) Palabras clave: Business Management Industrial management Urban geography planning City Economic policy Regional economics Spatial sociology and Innovation/Technology Urbanism Organizational Studies, Sociology Geography / (inc. megacities, cities, towns) R & D/Technology Policy Regional/Spatial Science Clasificación: 71 Urbanismo. Ordenación regional, urbana y rural. Paisajismo, parques y jardines. Resumen: This book offers fresh insights into how companies can engage with, and make use of, the modern metropolis. Based on actor-network theory and the resource-based view of the firm, it demonstrates how the contemporary city can be seen - and used - as a resource for corporate innovation. The main argument is that companies have to build what the author calls "urban innovation networks." After a theory-based outline of such networks, the author demonstrates the extent to which different institutional players - companies such as Audi, Ikea and Siemens, but also arts institutions like the Haus der Kunst in Munich - are already working to create them. The book combines management thinking with urban theory and the sociology of networks to create a unique blend of different views of capitalism and space, offering a new perspective on both the modern metropolis and globally operating companies active within our distinctly urban culture Nota de contenido: Foreword -- 1 Introduction -- 2 Globalized Space Versus Refuge of Locality? Beyond the Global Cities discourse -- 3 Rethinking the City: Actor-Network Theory and the Creation of Urban Connections -- 4 Urban Intensities: Architecture, Design, Affect -- 5 Rethinking Innovation: The Urban Perspective -- 6 Five Urban Stages -- 7 Conclusion En línea: http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/978-3-319-24624-6 Link: https://biblioteca.cunef.edu/gestion/catalogo/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=41540 Urban Innovation Networks : Understanding the City as a Strategic Resource [documento electrónico] / Alexander Gutzmer ; SpringerLink (Online service) . - Cham : Springer International Publishing : Imprint: Springer, 2016 . - X, 123 p. 11 illus., 1 illus. in color : online resource.

It is a first step in responding to the challenge of generating just such a discourse, based on a dilemma identified in the CTC (Complexity Theories of Cities) domain. The latter has demonstrated that cities exhibit the properties of natural, organic complex systems: they are open, complex and bottom-up, have fractal structures and are often chaotic. CTC have further shown that many of the mathematical formalisms and models developed to study material and organic complex systems also apply to cities. The dilemma in the current state of CTC is that cities differ from natural complex systems in that they are hybrid complex systems composed, on the one hand, of artifacts such as buildings, roads and bridges, and of natural human agents on the other. This raises a plethora of new questions on the difference between the natural and the artificial, the cognitive origin of human action and behavior, and the role of planning and designing cities. The answers to these questions cannot come from a single discipline; they must instead emerge from a discourse between experts from several disciplines engaged in CTC Nota de contenido: Introduction -- Part I: Complexity, Cognition and Cities -- 1. What makes cities complex? -- 2. Evolving a Plan: Design and Planning with Complexity -- 3. Self-organization and design as complementary pair -- 4. Cultivating complexity: The need for a shift in cognition -- 5. The fourth sustainability, creativity: Statistical associations and credible mechanism -- 6. Design thinking as principles for the structure of creative cities -- Part II: On Termites, Rats and Cities -- 7. Swarm cognition and swarm construction. Lessons from a social insect master builder -- 8. Physical, Behavioral, and Spatiotemporal Perspectives of Home in Humans and other Animals -- Part III: Complexity, Cognition and Planning -- 9. Framing the Planning Game: A cognitive understanding of the planner's rationale in a differentiated world -- 10. Global scale predictions of cities in urban and in cognitive planning -- 11. Emotional cognition and urban planning -- Part IV: Complexity, Cognition and Design -- 12. A Complexity-Cognitive view on Scale in Urban Design -- 13.
