Título : Immigrants in Regional Labour Markets of Host Nations : Some Evidence from Atlantic Canada Tipo de documento: documento electrónico Autores: Syed Ather Hussain Akbari ; SpringerLink (Online service) Editorial: Dordrecht : Springer Netherlands Fecha de publicación: 2013 Otro editor: Imprint: Springer Colección: SpringerBriefs in Population Studies, ISSN 2211-3215 Número de páginas: X, 95 p. 28 illus Il.: online resource ISBN/ISSN/DL: 978-94-007-6244-2 Idioma : Inglés (eng) Palabras clave: Labor economics Population Emigration and immigration Demography Economics Migration Clasificación: 658 Empresas. Organización de empresas Resumen: This book is the first to present a detailed analysis of economic integration of immigrants in smaller areas of their host nations. It uses Atlantic Canada as a case in point and uses unpublished data based on several databases of Statistics Canada and Citizenship and Immigration, Canada. It identifies best policy practices that can also be used in other countries to address demographic challenges similar to those facing Canada, for example population ageing and youth out-migration from smaller regions to larger regions, through immigration. Economic integration of immigrants in Atlantic Canada is faster and better than it is nationally. An overarching result is that an analysis of regional data can lead to very different policy conclusions than the analysis of national data, which means that it can be risky to devise immigration policy based only on national data. A clear message is that economic benefits from immigration can be enhanced by facilitating a broader geographic distribution of immigrants, rather than maintaining their concentration in a few larger urban regions. A must read for immigration and population policy makers, immigrant settlement agencies and academic researchers Nota de contenido: List of charts -- List of tables -- Acknowledgements -- Foreword -- Chapter1: Introduction -- Chapter 2: Some Demographic Trends in Atlantic Canada: Potential Consequences and Policy Response -- Chapter 3: Immigration Trends in Atlantic Canada -- Chapter 4: Immigrants in the Labour Force of Atlantic Canada -- Chapter 5: International Students in Atlantic Canada -- Chapter 6: Summary and Policy Recommendations -- List of References En línea: http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/978-94-007-6244-2 Link: https://biblioteca.cunef.edu/gestion/catalogo/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=36752 Immigrants in Regional Labour Markets of Host Nations : Some Evidence from Atlantic Canada [documento electrónico] / Syed Ather Hussain Akbari ; SpringerLink (Online service) . - Dordrecht : Springer Netherlands : Imprint: Springer, 2013 . - X, 95 p. 28 illus : online resource. - (SpringerBriefs in Population Studies, ISSN 2211-3215) .

Título : Industrial and Labor Economics : Issues in Developing and Transition Countries Tipo de documento: documento electrónico Autores: Saibal Kar ; SpringerLink (Online service) ; Debabrata Datta Editorial: New Delhi : Springer India Fecha de publicación: 2015 Otro editor: Imprint: Springer Colección: India Studies in Business and Economics, ISSN 2198-0012 num. 25 Número de páginas: XIV, 164 p. 32 illus., 16 illus. in color Il.: online resource ISBN/ISSN/DL: 978-81-322-2017-6 Idioma : Inglés (eng) Palabras clave: Personnel management Industrial organization Labor economics Population Emigration and immigration Economics Organization Human Resource Management Migration Clasificación: 658 Empresas. Organización de empresas Resumen: This book is an attempt to capture and analyze several idiosyncratic features of industry and labor in the developing world. Available books and graduate-level texts in labor economics largely discuss industrial and labor market situations prevalent in developed countries, where well-defined institutional arrangements and regulations create a very different scope of analysis. The patterns of choice in training and contracts in the labor market more apparent in developing and transition countries are discussed, as are the information-theoretic results. The book also critically examines labor migration, a context in which the developing and transition countries represent large sources in the present global order. A broad base of empirical observations from industries is used to develop analytical conjectures on risk-sharing arrangements between workers and employers, while strong intuitive explanations are combined with relevant mathematical and graphical derivations, ensuring the book’s readability among graduate students pursuing courses in labor economics and industrial economics for developing and transition countries. The book may also serve as a valuable reference guide for all students in advanced human resources courses at management schools. Presenting state-of-the art research findings in all of its chapters, the book discusses numerous institutional peculiarities of the developing world, making the results distinct in view of the general scope of labor economics Nota de contenido: Chapter 1. The Dimensions of Labor Market in Developing and Transition Countries -- Chapter 2. Labor Markets in Developing and Transition Countries -- Chapter 3. Asymmetric Information in the Labor Market -- Chapter 4. Risk Sharing and Rent Sharing in the Labor Market -- Chapter 5. Industrial Organization and the Labor Market -- Chapter 6.
