Título : Heat Kernels for Elliptic and Sub-elliptic Operators : Methods and Techniques Tipo de documento: documento electrónico Autores: Ovidiu Calin ; SpringerLink (Online service) ; Der-Chen Chang ; Kenro Furutani ; Chisato Iwasaki Editorial: Boston : Birkhäuser Boston Fecha de publicación: 2011 Colección: Applied and Numerical Harmonic Analysis Número de páginas: XVIII, 436 p. 25 illus Il.: online resource ISBN/ISSN/DL: 978-0-8176-4995-1 Idioma : Inglés (eng) Palabras clave: Mathematics Harmonic analysis Operator theory Partial differential equations Differential geometry Probabilities Physics Equations Mathematical Methods in Theory Geometry Probability and Stochastic Processes Abstract Analysis Clasificación: 51 Matemáticas Resumen: This monograph is a unified presentation of several theories of finding explicit formulas for heat kernels for both elliptic and sub-elliptic operators. These kernels are important in the theory of parabolic operators because they describe the distribution of heat on a given manifold as well as evolution phenomena and diffusion processes. The work is divided into four main parts: Part I treats the heat kernel by traditional methods, such as the Fourier transform method, paths integrals, variational calculus, and eigenvalue expansion; Part II deals with the heat kernel on nilpotent Lie groups and nilmanifolds; Part III examines Laguerre calculus applications; Part IV uses the method of pseudo-differential operators to describe heat kernels. Topics and features: •comprehensive treatment from the point of view of distinct branches of mathematics, such as stochastic processes, differential geometry, special functions, quantum mechanics, and PDEs; •novelty of the work is in the diverse methods used to compute heat kernels for elliptic and sub-elliptic operators; •most of the heat kernels computable by means of elementary functions are covered in the work; •self-contained material on stochastic processes and variational methods is included. Heat Kernels for Elliptic and Sub-elliptic Operators is an ideal reference for graduate students, researchers in pure and applied mathematics, and theoretical physicists interested in understanding different ways of approaching evolution operators Nota de contenido: Part I. Traditional Methods for Computing Heat Kernels -- Introduction -- Stochastic Analysis Method -- A Brief Introduction to Calculus of Variations -- The Path Integral Approach -- The Geometric Method -- Commuting Operators -- Fourier Transform Method -- The Eigenfunctions Expansion Method -- Part II. Heat Kernel on Nilpotent Lie Groups and Nilmanifolds -- Laplacians and Sub-Laplacians -- Heat Kernels for Laplacians and Step 2 Sub-Laplacians -- Heat Kernel for Sub-Laplacian on the Sphere S^3 -- Part III. The problem of the harmonization of Consumer Price Indexes (CPIs) and the time-space integration of baskets is analyzed at the EU-zone level, with methodological and practical proposals on how to proceed for an overall treatment of the matter. Another issue is comparisons between Purchasing Power Parities (PPPs) and CPIs. Likewise, the construction of sub-indexes for households, economic and social groups is investigated, in order to obtain specific inflation measurement instruments. The book provides evidence from the most updated databases. Among the other issues treated in this book are spatial comparisons of price levels through PPPs and the international comparisons of macroeconomic aggregates, a re-consideration of index numbers theory, the measurement of production in non-market services, deflation problems, and price indexes in financial markets Nota de contenido: Consumer Price Indexes Time-Space Integration -- Are Integration and Comparison Between CPIs and PPPs Feasible? -- Retrospective Approximations of Superlative Price Indexes for Years Where Expenditure Data Is Unavailable -- Harmonized Cross Region and Cross Country CPI Time-Space Integration in the Euro-Zone -- Consumer Price Indexes in Space -- Modelling Spatially Correlated Error Structures in the Time-Space Extrapolation of Purchasing Power Parities -- Price Indexes across Space and Time and the Stochastic Properties of Prices -- Intra-National Price Level Differentials: The Italian Experience -- Subindexes -- Consumer Price Indexes: An Analysis of Heterogeneity Across Sub-Populations -- Price Dispersion: The Case of “Pasta” -- Measuring the Production of Non-Market Services -- Price Indexes in National Accounts -- Total Factor Productivity Surpluses and Purchasing Power Transfers: An Application to the Italian Economy -- Jointly Consistent Price and Quantity Comparisons and the Geo-Logarithmic Family of Price Indexes -- Price Indexes in Financial Markets -- Common Trends in Financial Markets -- An Application of Index Numbers Theory to Interest Rates -- Sector Price Indexes in Financial Markets: Methodological Issues En línea: http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/978-3-7908-2140-6 Link: https://biblioteca.cunef.edu/gestion/catalogo/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=33783 Price Indexes in Time and Space : Methods and Practice [documento electrónico] / SpringerLink (Online service) ; Luigi Biggeri ; Guido Ferrari . - Heidelberg : Physica-Verlag HD, 2010 . - XII, 264 p. 30 illus : online resource. - (Contributions to Statistics, ISSN 1431-1968) .
