Organización de empresas Resumen: What a pleasure it is to discover the second edition of the Handbook of Insurance, twelve years after the first! Many key concepts at the core of risk, uncertainty and insurance economics have been further refined, reassessed, and reanalyzed. New issues have emerged, including systemic risk, longevity risk, long-term care, the corporate governance of insurance companies, capital allocation within insurance companies and alternative risk transfer devices. I have a simple wish: that this handbook be diffused to as wide an audience as possible, both in academic and professional spheres. Denis Kessler Chairman and CEO of SCOR This new edition of the Handbook of Insurance reviews the last forty years of research developments in insurance and its related fields. A single reference source for professors, researchers, graduate students, regulators, consultants, and practitioners, the book starts with the history and foundations of risk and insurance theory, followed by a review of prevention and precaution, asymmetric information, risk management, insurance pricing, new financial innovations, reinsurance, corporate governance, capital allocation, securitization, systemic risk, insurance regulation, the industrial organization of insurance markets, and other insurance market applications. It ends with health insurance, longevity risk, long-term care insurance, life insurance financial products, and social insurance. This second version of the Handbook contains 15 new chapters. Each of the 37 chapters has been written by leading authorities in risk and insurance research, all contributions have been peer reviewed, and each chapter can be read independently of the others Nota de contenido: Preface -- Introduction -- Part 1: History -- Developments in Risk and Insurance Economics: the Past 40 Years -- Part 2 : Risk and Insurance Theory Without Information Problems -- Higher-Order Risk Attitudes -- Non-Expected Utility and the Robustness of the Classical Insurance Paradigm -- The Economics of Optimal Insurance Design -- The Effects of Changes in Risk on Risk Taking: A Survey -- Risk Measures and Dependence Modeling -- The Theory of Insurance Demand.-Prevention and Precaution -- Part 3 : Asymmetric Information: Theory -- Optimal Insurance Contracts under Moral Hazard -- Adverse Selection in Insurance Contracting -- The Theory of Risk Classification -- The Economics of Liability Insurance -- Economic Analysis of Insurance Fraud -- Part 4: Asymmetric Information: Empirical Analysis -- Asymmetric Information in Insurance Markets: Predictions and Tests -- The Empirical Measure of Information Problems with Emphasis on Insurance Fraud and Dynamic Data -- Workers’ Compensation: Occupational Injury Insurance’s Influence on the Workplace -- Experience Rating in Non-Life Insurance -- Part 5 : Risk Management -- On the Demand for Corporate Insurance – Creating Value -- Managing Catastrophic Risks through Redesigned Insurance: Challenges and Opportunities -- Innovations in Insurance Markets: Hybrid and Securitized Risk-Transfer Solutions -- Risk Sharing and Pricing in the Reinsurance Market -- Part 6 : Insurance Pricing -- Financial Pricing of Insurance -- Insurance Price Volatility and Underwriting Cycles -- Part 7 : Industrial Organization of Insurance Markets -- On the Choice of Organizational Form: Theory and Evidence from the Insurance Industry -- Insurance Distribution -- Corporate Governance in the Insurance Industry: A Synthesis -- Systemic Risk and the Insurance Industry -- Analyzing Firm Performance in the Insurance Industry Using Frontier Efficiency and Productivity Methods -- Capital Allocation and its Discontents -- Capital and Risks Interrelationships in the Life and Health Insurance Industries: Theories and Applications -- Insurance Market Regulation: Catastrophe Risk, Competition, and Systemic Risk -- Insurance Markets in Developing Countries: Economic Importance and Retention Capacity -- Part 8: Health and Long-Term Care Insurance, Longevity Risk, Life Insurance, and Social Insurance -- Health Insurance in the United States -- Longevity Risk and Hedging Solutions -- Long-Term Care Insurance -- New Life Insurance Financial Products -- The Division of Labor Between Private and Social Insurance En línea: http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/978-1-4614-0155-1 Link: https://biblioteca.cunef.edu/gestion/catalogo/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=36391 Handbook of Insurance [documento electrónico] / SpringerLink (Online service) ; Georges Dionne . - New York, NY : Springer New York : Imprint: Springer, 2013 . - XXVI, 1126 p. 142 illus., 34 illus. in color : online resource.

Título : Life Insurance Risk Management Essentials Tipo de documento: documento electrónico Autores: Koller, Michael ; SpringerLink (Online service) Editorial: Berlin, Heidelberg : Springer Berlin Heidelberg Fecha de publicación: 2011 Colección: EAA Series, ISSN 1869-6929 Número de páginas: XVIII, 360 p. 70 illus., 60 illus. in color Il.: online resource ISBN/ISSN/DL: 978-3-642-20721-1 Idioma : Inglés (eng) Palabras clave: Finance Insurance Applied mathematics Engineering Probabilities Statistics Macroeconomics Macroeconomics/Monetary Economics//Financial Economics Applications of Mathematics Probability Theory and Stochastic Processes for Business/Economics/Mathematical Finance/Insurance Clasificación: 51 Matemáticas Resumen: The aim of the book is to provide an overview of risk management in life insurance companies. The focus is twofold: (1) to provide a broad view of the different topics needed for risk management and (2) to provide the necessary tools and techniques to concretely apply them in practice. Much emphasis has been put into the presentation of the book so that it presents the theory in a simple but sound manner. The first chapters deal with valuation concepts which are defined and analysed, the emphasis is on understanding the risks in corresponding assets and liabilities such as bonds, shares and also insurance liabilities. In the following chapters risk appetite and key insurance processes and their risks are presented and analysed. This more general treatment is followed by chapters describing asset risks, insurance risks and operational risks - the application of models and reporting of the corresponding risks is central. Next, the risks of insurance companies and of special insurance products are looked at. The aim is to show the intrinsic risks in some particular products and the way they can be analysed. The book finishes with emerging risks and risk management from a regulatory point of view, the standard model of Solvency II and the Swiss Solvency Test are analysed and explained. The book has several mathematical appendices which deal with the basic mathematical tools, e.g. probability theory, stochastic processes, Markov chains and a tochastic life insurance model based on Markov chains. Moreover, the appendices look at the mathematical formulation of abstract valuation concepts such as replicating portfolios, state space deflators, arbitrage free pricing and the valuation of unit linked products with guarantees. The various concepts in the book are supported by tables and figures Nota de contenido: What is Risk Management -- The role of the Balance Sheets and of Capital -- Accounting Principles -- Risk Appetite and Tolerance -- Key Insurance Processes and their Risks -- Financial Risks and their Modelling -- Insurance Risks -- Operational Risks -- Capital Models and Integrated Risk Management -- Risk adjusted performance Metrics -- Risk Management in a Group and Intra-group Transactions -- Products and their Risks -- Emerging Risks -- Regulatory view on Risk Management: Solvency II -- Governance and Organisation -- A Stochastic Processes -- B Application of the Markov model to Life Insurance -- C Abstract Valuation -- D An Introduction to Arbitrage Free Pricing -- E An Introduction to Stochastic Integration -- F CERA Comparison En línea: http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/978-3-642-20721-1 Link: https://biblioteca.cunef.edu/gestion/catalogo/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=33428 Life Insurance Risk Management Essentials [documento electrónico] / Koller, Michael ; SpringerLink (Online service) . - Berlin, Heidelberg : Springer Berlin Heidelberg, 2011 . - XVIII, 360 p. 70 illus., 60 illus. in color : online resource. - (EAA Series, ISSN 1869-6929) .

Título : Marine Insurance : Origins and Institutions, 1300-1850 Tipo de documento: documento electrónico Autores: Leonard, A. B ; SpringerLink (Online service) Editorial: London : Palgrave Macmillan UK Fecha de publicación: 2016 Otro editor: Imprint: Palgrave Macmillan Colección: Palgrave Studies in the History of Finance Series Número de páginas: XIII, 324 p Il.: online resource ISBN/ISSN/DL: 978-1-137-41138-9 Idioma : Inglés (eng) Palabras clave: Finance Insurance Finance--History Economic history Financial History Clasificación: 330 Economía en general Resumen: Since its invention in Italy in the fourteenth century, marine insurance has provided merchants with capital protection in times of crisis, thus oiling the gears of trade and commerce. With a focus on customs, laws, and organisational structures, this book reveals the Italian origins of marine insurance, and tracks the spread of underwriting practices and institutions in Europe and America through the early modern era. With contributions from eleven leading researchers from seven countries, the book examines key institutional developments in the history of marine insurance. The authors discuss its invention in Italy, and its evolution from private to corporate structures, assessing the causes and impacts of various state interventions. Amsterdam and Antwerp are analysed as one-time key centres of underwriting, as is the emergence and maturity of marine insurance in London. The book evaluates an experiment in corporate underwriting in Cadiz, and the development of insurance institutions in the United States, before applying the metrics of underwriting to discuss commerce raiding in the Atlantic up to the nineteenth century En línea: http://dx.doi.org/10.1057/9781137411389 Link: https://biblioteca.cunef.edu/gestion/catalogo/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=41941 Marine Insurance : Origins and Institutions, 1300-1850 [documento electrónico] / Leonard, A. Multiple state models are discussed to accommodate the insurance products in which the payment of benefits or premiums is dependent on being in a given state or moving between a given pair of states at a given time, for example, disability income insurance model. The book also discusses stochastic models for interest rates and calculation of premiums for some products in this set up. The highlight of the book is usage of R software, freely available from public domain, for computations of various monetary functions involved in insurance business. R commands are given for all the computations Nota de contenido: Multiple Decrement Models -- Introduction -- Time to Decrement and Cause of Decrement Random Variables -- Multiple Decrement Table -- Associated Single Decrement Model -- Exercises -- Premiums and Reserves for Multiple Decrement Model -- Introduction -- Actuarial Present Value of Benefit -- Computation of Premiums -- Computation of Reserves -- Exercises -- Defined Benefit Pension Plan -- Introduction -- Actuarial Present Value of Pension Benefit -- Exercises -- Pension Funding -- Introduction -- Accrued Benefit Cost Method for an Individual -- Accrued Benefit Cost Method for a Group -- Aggregate Actuarial Cost Method -- Exercises -- Multi-State Transition Models For Cash Flows -- Introduction -- Markov Chain -- Actuarial Present Values of Cash Flows -- Markov Process Model -- Exercises.
