It contains an accessible analytical survey of economic equilibrium models, including multi-sector programming models (linear and quadratic) and the computable general equilibrium (CGE) model. The book introduces the importance of disinvestment, and hence, a model of economic transformation is developed. Finally, the globalisation process of the production system is examined. The equilibrium models in this book are presented in an easy way. Although the book is primarily written for advanced undergraduates and beginning graduates, the reading of the book will appeal to anyone interested in economic theory and applied modelling in the field of economics. Título : Industrial and Labor Economics : Issues in Developing and Transition Countries Tipo de documento: documento electrónico Autores: Saibal Kar ; SpringerLink (Online service) ; Debabrata Datta Editorial: New Delhi : Springer India Fecha de publicación: 2015 Otro editor: Imprint: Springer Colección: India Studies in Business and Economics, ISSN 2198-0012 num. 25 Número de páginas: XIV, 164 p. 32 illus., 16 illus. in color Il.: online resource ISBN/ISSN/DL: 978-81-322-2017-6 Idioma : Inglés (eng) Palabras clave: Personnel management Industrial organization Labor economics Population Emigration and immigration Economics Organization Human Resource Management Migration Clasificación: 658 Empresas. Organización de empresas Resumen: This book is an attempt to capture and analyze several idiosyncratic features of industry and labor in the developing world. Available books and graduate-level texts in labor economics largely discuss industrial and labor market situations prevalent in developed countries, where well-defined institutional arrangements and regulations create a very different scope of analysis. The patterns of choice in training and contracts in the labor market more apparent in developing and transition countries are discussed, as are the information-theoretic results. The book also critically examines labor migration, a context in which the developing and transition countries represent large sources in the present global order. A broad base of empirical observations from industries is used to develop analytical conjectures on risk-sharing arrangements between workers and employers, while strong intuitive explanations are combined with relevant mathematical and graphical derivations, ensuring the book’s readability among graduate students pursuing courses in labor economics and industrial economics for developing and transition countries. The book may also serve as a valuable reference guide for all students in advanced human resources courses at management schools. Presenting state-of-the art research findings in all of its chapters, the book discusses numerous institutional peculiarities of the developing world, making the results distinct in view of the general scope of labor economics Nota de contenido: Chapter 1. The Dimensions of Labor Market in Developing and Transition Countries -- Chapter 2. Labor Markets in Developing and Transition Countries -- Chapter 3. Título : Industrial Districts in History and the Developing World Tipo de documento: documento electrónico Autores: Tomoko Hashino ; SpringerLink (Online service) ; Keijiro Otsuka Editorial: Singapore : Springer Singapore Fecha de publicación: 2016 Otro editor: Imprint: Springer Colección: Studies in Economic History, ISSN 2364-1797 Número de páginas: XVI, 194 p. 15 illus., 3 illus. in color Il.: online resource ISBN/ISSN/DL: 978-981-10-0182-6 Idioma : Inglés (eng) Palabras clave: Management Industrial management Globalization Markets History Economic history Development economics Economics History, general Innovation/Technology Emerging Markets/Globalization Clasificación: 330 Economía en general Resumen: This book sheds new light on the role of industrial districts in the industrial development of the past and present. Industrial districts, which refer to the geographical concentration of enterprises producing similar or closely related commodities in a small area, play a significant role in the development of manufacturing industries not only historically in Europe and Japan but also at present in emerging East Asian economies, such as China and Vietnam and low-income countries in sub-Saharan Africa. The book identifies similarities in the development patterns of industrial districts in history and the present and analyzes the reasons for these similarities. More specifically, the book examines whether Marshallian agglomeration economies provide sufficient explanations and seeks to deepen understanding about the important factors that are missing. Despite the common issues addressed by economic historians and development economists regarding the advantages of industrial districts for industrial development, discussion of these issues between the two groups of researchers has been largely absent, or at best weak. The purpose of this book is to integrate the results of case studies by economic historians interested in France, Spain, and Japan and those by development economists interested in the contemporary industries still developing in China, Vietnam, Bangladesh, Tanzania, and other countries in sub-Saharan Africa. Nota de contenido: Part I Introduction -- 1 Beyond Marshallian Agglomeration Economies -- 2 Toward a New Paradigm of the Long-Term Development of Industrial Districts -- Part II Pivotal Role of Technology Transfer -- 3 Technology Transfer and the Early Development of the Cotton Textile Industry in 19th Century Spain -- 4 Contrasting Development Paths of Silk-Weaving Districts in Modern Japan -- 5 Emergence and Subsequent Development of Garment Clusters in Bangladesh and Tanzania -- Part III Central Role of Producer Cooperatives -- 6 Trade Association and Economic Regulation in the Lyons Fabrique: From the 1860s to the 1920s -- 7 Development of High-Value Agricultural Districts: The Role of Producer Cooperatives in Japan and Developing Countries -- Part IV Supporting Role of Local Government -- 8 Industrial Districts in Europe: Policy Lessons for Developing Countries? -- 9 Promotion of the Weaving Districts in Modern Japan -- 10 Low-Quality Crisis and Quality Upgrading: The Case of Industrial Clusters in Zhejiang Province En línea: http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/978-981-10-0182-6 Link: https://biblioteca.cunef.edu/gestion/catalogo/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=41854 Industrial Districts in History and the Developing World [documento electrónico] / Tomoko Hashino ; SpringerLink (Online service) ; Keijiro Otsuka . - Singapore : Springer Singapore : Imprint: Springer, 2016 . - XVI, 194 p. 15 illus., 3 illus. in color : online resource. - (Studies in Economic History, ISSN 2364-1797) .

Organización de empresas Resumen: Industrial and technology parks are commonly regarded as a policy panacea. They tend to be considered as the ideal instrument to alleviate an assortment of institutional, political, economic, social and ultimately, technological weaknesses and often form the centrepiece of development strategies. Yet, the real impact of industrial and technology parks, especially in emerging countries is still poorly understood. Focusing on examples from Latin America, Asia, Africa and the Middle East, the book represents a first approach to understand the potential and reality of industrial and technology parks in emerging countries. It is argued that although some parks have been successful in addressing a range of key problems, including underdevelopment, unemployment and a lack of investment, the majority have failed to deliver, rendering the promise of many parks little more than a pipedream Nota de contenido: Introduction -- The Theoretical Building Blocks for Technology and Industrial Parks -- Definitions and Key Terms -- Cultivating Innovation in Parks -- Evidence for Emerging Economies -- Evaluating Park Performance -- Are Parks in Emerging Countries Delivering? -- All Things Considered En línea: http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/978-3-319-07992-9 Link: https://biblioteca.cunef.edu/gestion/catalogo/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=36092 Technology and Industrial Parks in Emerging Countries : Panacea or Pipedream?
