Organización de empresas Resumen: This volume brings together research on development in three major areas of contemporary global relevance: agriculture and food security, energy, and the institutions of national innovation. Covering six of the largest emerging and developing economies (EDEs) in the world, three Asian (China, India and Malaysia), two Latin American (Brazil and Mexico), and one African (South Africa), the book offers insights on how the major EDEs have addressed the complex and increasingly interrelated issues of agricultural growth, food security and access to energy as part of their growth and development experience over the last three decades. Underscoring the broader view of institutions of national innovation capacities, the volume presents the role of domestic policy and macroeconomic fluctuations in shaping the innovation capacities and development policy in these countries. The book is divided into three main parts. Part I addresses agriculture and food security, while Part II focuses on the energy sector, including the importance of clean energy and energy efficiency in improving access. Parts I and II also cover the role of the major sector-specific innovations for increasing productivity and growth. Subsequently, Part III examines the importance of economy-wide institutions of innovation in the context of supporting growth and development Nota de contenido: Chapter 1. Título : A Kaizen Approach to Food Safety : Quality Management in the Value Chain from Wheat to Bread Tipo de documento: documento electrónico Autores: Victoria Hill ; SpringerLink (Online service) Editorial: Cham : Springer International Publishing Fecha de publicación: 2014 Otro editor: Imprint: Springer Colección: Contributions to Management Science, ISSN 1431-1941 Número de páginas: XXXIII, 389 p. 105 illus Il.: online resource ISBN/ISSN/DL: 978-3-319-04250-3 Idioma : Inglés (eng) Palabras clave: Business Production management Operations research Decision making Food Biotechnology Mathematical optimization Management science Quality control Reliability Industrial safety and Operation Research/Decision Theory Control, Reliability, Safety Risk Science Optimization Research, Clasificación: 658 Empresas. Organización de empresas Resumen: This book provides a Management Science approach to quality management in food production. Aspects of food quality, product conformance and reliability/food safety are examined, starting with wheat and ending with its value chain transformation into bread. Protein qualities that influence glycemic index levels in bread are used to compare the value chains of France and the US. With Kaizen models the book shows how changes in these characteristics are the result of management decisions made by the wheat growers in response to government policy and industry strategy. Lastly, it provides step-by-step instructions on how to apply kaizen methodology and Deming's work on quality improvement to make the HACCPs (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) in food safety systems more robust Nota de contenido: The Bread VC: Its Health Impact and Structure in France and the U.S. -- Government Regulation of Food Quality: International and in France and the U.S. -- Industry Regulation of Quality in Bread, Flour and Wheat in France and the U.S. -- Discussion of Literature Review and Preliminary Data Analysis -- Modelling the Value Stream for Bread, Flour and Wheat Production -- QFD Models of French and U.S. Wheat Management Practices -- HACCP and VSM Models of French and U.S. Wheat Production Processes -- Findings, Recommendations and Conclusion En línea: http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/978-3-319-04250-3 Link: https://biblioteca.cunef.edu/gestion/catalogo/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=36031 A Kaizen Approach to Food Safety : Quality Management in the Value Chain from Wheat to Bread [documento electrónico] / Victoria Hill ; SpringerLink (Online service) . - Cham : Springer International Publishing : Imprint: Springer, 2014 . - XXXIII, 389 p. 105 illus : online resource. - (Contributions to Management Science, ISSN 1431-1941) .

Further, it highlights the need to amend the provisions of the AoA to make WTO rules just and fair for the millions of people suffering from hunger and malnutrition in developing countries. This book highlights that 12 countries namely China, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Jordan, Kenya, Morocco, Pakistan, Tunisia, Turkey, Zambia and Zimbabwe are facing or will face problems in implementing the food security policies due to the provisions under AoA. These provisions need to be amended for permitting developing countries to address hunger and undernourishment. Progress in WTO negotiations on public stockholding for food security purposes are also discussed and analysed. The findings of this study greatly benefit trade negotiators, policymakers, civil society, farmers groups, researchers, students and academics interested in issues related to the WTO, agriculture and food security. . is an important input into the debate surrounding the attempts of several countries to negotiate a change in these rules in the face of strong resistance from those that aver that trade liberalisation is a sine qua non for food security ... - Rajeev Kher, Member, Competition Appellate Tribunal and Former Commerce Secretary, Government of India . offers a timely analysis, with detailed supporting data, of one of the most contentious issues in the WTO: the attempt to limit much-needed policies to address food security in developing countries ... - Timothy A. Wise, Global Development and Environment Institute, Tufts University, USA Price support schemes used by the US, UK and the EU in the past, are currently being used by at least twelve large developing countries to ensure food and livelihood security for their poor farmers... This book analyses the problem in depth and provides solutions for the way forward.
