Título : Aeroelasticity : The Continuum Theory Tipo de documento: documento electrónico Autores: A.V. Balakrishnan ; SpringerLink (Online service) Editorial: New York, NY : Springer New York Fecha de publicación: 2012 Otro editor: Imprint: Springer Número de páginas: XII, 400 p Il.: online resource ISBN/ISSN/DL: 978-1-4614-3609-6 Idioma : Inglés (eng) Palabras clave: Mathematics Functional analysis Partial differential equations Fluids Continuum mechanics Engineering design Analysis Design Mechanics and of Materials Fluid- Aerodynamics Differential Equations Clasificación: 51 Matemáticas Resumen: The author's approach is one of continuum models of the aerodynamic flow interacting with a flexible structure whose behavior is governed by partial differential equations. Both linear and nonlinear models are considered although much of the book is concerned with the former while keeping the latter clearly in view. A complete chapter is also devoted to nonlinear theory. The author has provided new insights into the classical inviscid aerodynamics and raises novel and interesting questions on fundamental issues that have too often been neglected or forgotten in the development of the early history of the subject. The author contrasts his approach with discrete models for the unsteady aerodynamic flow and the finite element model for the structure. Much of the aeroelasticity has been developed with applications formerly in mind because of its enormous consequences for the safety of aircraft. Aeroelastic instabilities such as divergence and flutter and aeroelastic responses to gusts can pose a significant hazard to the aircraft and impact its performance. Yet, it is now recognized that there are many other physical phenomena that have similar characteristics ranging from flows around flexible tall buildings and long span bridges, alternate energy sources such as electric power generation by smart structures to flows internal to the human body. From the foreword: "For the theorist and applied mathematician who wishes an introduction to this fascinating subject as well as for the experienced aeroelastician who is open to new challenges and a fresh viewpoint, this book and its author have much to offer the reader." Earl Dowell, Duke University, USA Nota de contenido: Introduction -- Dynamics of Wing Structure -- The Air Flow Model -- The Steady State HStatic L Solution of the Aeroelastic Equation -- Linear Aeroelasticity Theory The Possio Integral Equation -- NonLinear Aeroelasticity Theory in 2 D Aerodynamics Flutter As LCO -- Viscous Flow Theory.-Optimal Control Theory : Flutter Suppression -- Aeroelastic Gust Response.- En línea: http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/978-1-4614-3609-6 Link: https://biblioteca.cunef.edu/gestion/catalogo/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=32803 Aeroelasticity : The Continuum Theory [documento electrónico] / A.V. Título : Hyperbolic Conservation Laws in Continuum Physics Tipo de documento: documento electrónico Autores: Constantine M. Dafermos ; SpringerLink (Online service) Editorial: Berlin, Heidelberg : Springer Berlin Heidelberg Fecha de publicación: 2010 Colección: Grundlehren der mathematischen Wissenschaften, A Series of Comprehensive Studies in Mathematics, ISSN 0072-7830 num. 325 Número de páginas: XXXV, 710 p Il.: online resource ISBN/ISSN/DL: 978-3-642-04048-1 Idioma : Inglés (eng) Palabras clave: Mathematics Partial differential equations Mechanics Thermodynamics Continuum mechanics Structural Differential Equations and of Materials Clasificación: 51 Matemáticas Resumen: This is a masterly exposition and an encyclopedic presentation of the theory of hyperbolic conservation laws. It illustrates the essential role of continuum thermodynamics in providing motivation and direction for the development of the mathematical theory while also serving as the principal source of applications. The reader is expected to have a certain mathematical sophistication and to be familiar with (at least) the rudiments of analysis and the qualitative theory of partial differential equations, whereas prior exposure to continuum physics is not required. The target group of readers would consist of (a) experts in the mathematical theory of hyperbolic systems of conservation laws who wish to learn about the connection with classical physics; (b) specialists in continuum mechanics who may need analytical tools; (c) experts in numerical analysis who wish to learn the underlying mathematical theory; and (d) analysts and graduate students who seek introduction to the theory of hyperbolic systems of conservation laws. New to the 3rd edition is an account of the early history of the subject, spanning the period between 1800 to 1957. Also new is a chapter recounting the recent solution of open problems of long standing in classical aerodynamics. Furthermore, the presentation of a number of topics in the previous edition has been revised and brought up to date, and the collection of applications has been substantially enriched. The bibliography, also expanded and updated, now comprises over fifteen hundred titles. From the reviews of the 2nd edition: "The author is known as one of the leading experts in the field. His masterly written book is, surely, the most complete exposition in the subject." Evgeniy Panov, Zentralblatt MATH "This book is sure to convince every reader that working in this area is challenging, enlightening, and joyful." Katarina Jegdic, SIAM Review Nota de contenido: Balance Laws -- to Continuum Physics -- Hyperbolic Systems of Balance Laws -- The Cauchy Problem -- Entropy and the Stability of Classical Solutions -- The Theory for Scalar Conservation Laws -- Hyperbolic Systems of Balance Laws in One-Space Dimension -- Admissible Shocks -- Admissible Wave Fans and the Riemann Problem -- Generalized Characteristics -- Genuinely Nonlinear Scalar Conservation Laws -- Genuinely Nonlinear Systems of Two Conservation Laws -- The Random Choice Method -- The Front Tracking Method and Standard Riemann Semigroups -- Construction of Solutions by the Vanishing Viscosity Method -- Compensated Compactness -- Conservation Laws in Two Space Dimensions En línea: http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/978-3-642-04048-1 Link: https://biblioteca.cunef.edu/gestion/catalogo/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=33720 Hyperbolic Conservation Laws in Continuum Physics [documento electrónico] / Constantine M.
