It presents the idea of a "boundaryless hospital", a conceptual model of a patient-centric, value-based health network that overcomes typical sectorial, organizational, and geographical boundaries and offers greater efficiency and better quality outcomes for patients. Effective health care for a growing and aging population is a major challenge for economies all over the world. New breakthroughs in medical technology and pharmaceuticals as well as digitization provide scope for more efficiency and for a better quality of health care. Novel organization forms and management concepts are key for coping with the increasing cost pressure observed in most health care systems. The contributions in this volume present innovative strategies for developing and implementing the concept of a boundaryless hospital. They highlight experiences from various countries and with different treatments. The book project was initiated and carried out by the Center for Advanced Studies in Management (CASiM), the interdisciplinary research center of HHL Leipzig Graduate School of Management for business administration in the 21st century Nota de contenido: Part I: Challenges and Opportunities of Health Care Management in the 21st Century -- Network Management as a Strategic Option for the Boundaryless Hospital -- Cancer Care: New Value Chains Challenge German Hospital Structures -- Health Care under Market Conditions from an Ethical Point of View -- Part II: Seizing the Opportunities across Countries and Sub-disciplines -- Pathways towards Health Care Systems with a Chronic-care Focus -- The Importance of Time in Developing a Boundaryless Hospital -- Networked Care: IT-Assisted Tools (Wearable Sensors) for Patients at Risk -- Carving Out a Place for New Health Care Occupations -- Personalized Medicine Challenges the Health Care System -- Part III: Meeting the Challenges -- Measuring Performance in Hospitals -- The "Boundaryless Hospital" Through Risk Management Approach: A Case Study of the Accident and Emergency Unit of a Tertiary-care Hospital in Malta -- Leveraging the Value for Health Care Providers Using Clinical Workflow Analytics -- Role and Function of the Emergency Department in a Boundaryless Hospital -- Stakeholder Involvement Transcends Boundaries in University Hospitals -- The Hospital Situation for Diseases Requiring Sophisticated Examinations Using Epilepsy as an Example -- Identifying the Adoption Process for Electronic Health Services -- Infection Prevention Networks and the Role of the Boundaryless Hospital -- Part IV: The Boundaryless Hospital from the Patients' Perspective -- From Community Analysis to Prototype: Creating and Online Matchmaker for Inflammatory Bowel Disease Patients -- Patients' Complaints and Managers' Responses as a Process of Institutional Interaction -- Innovations by and for Patients, and their Place in the Future Health Care System. Título : Evaluating Investments in Health Care Systems : Health Technology Assessment Tipo de documento: documento electrónico Autores: Scaletti, Alessandro ; SpringerLink (Online service) Editorial: Cham : Springer International Publishing Fecha de publicación: 2014 Otro editor: Imprint: Springer Colección: SpringerBriefs in Health Care Management and Economics, ISSN 2193-1704 Número de páginas: XI, 62 p. 2 illus Il.: online resource ISBN/ISSN/DL: 978-3-319-02544-5 Idioma : Inglés (eng) Palabras clave: Business Health care management services administration informatics Public economics Medical and Management Care Economics Administration Informatics Clasificación: 658 Empresas. Organización de empresas Resumen: This book focuses on the innovative and more critical management approach adopted in the PA (Public Administration) in order to identify and describe the main models and instruments to economically evaluate the decision making process in accordance to the specific conditions such as efficiency, effectiveness, cost and equity. The manuscript pays special attention to this sector by identifying, investigating and applying the main evaluation models (logic and methods) of the decision making process, in particular in terms of investment decisions. In the recent decades, with reference to PA, several managerial approaches have been developed from a business management perspective. These managerial approaches differ in terms of variables analyzed, such as the role of governance or the specific logics and mechanisms applied, but all of them have a common goal, which is the improvement of efficiency, effectiveness, economic and equitable decision making and operations in the PA. This book investigates the different mentioned frameworks adopting a wider and integrated analysis perspective on the evaluation of investments in the health care system Nota de contenido: The Evolution of Decision Logic in the Health Care System -- Logic and Methods of Evaluation in Health Care -- Health Technology Assessment En línea: http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/978-3-319-02544-5 Link: https://biblioteca.cunef.edu/gestion/catalogo/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=36000 Evaluating Investments in Health Care Systems : Health Technology Assessment [documento electrónico] / Scaletti, Alessandro ; SpringerLink (Online service) . - Cham : Springer International Publishing : Imprint: Springer, 2014 . - XI, 62 p. 2 illus : online resource. - (SpringerBriefs in Health Care Management and Economics, ISSN 2193-1704) .

Título : Healthcare Management : Managed Care Organisations and Instruments Tipo de documento: documento electrónico Autores: Volker Eric Amelung ; SpringerLink (Online service) Editorial: Berlin, Heidelberg : Springer Berlin Heidelberg Fecha de publicación: 2013 Otro editor: Imprint: Springer Colección: Springer Texts in Business and Economics, ISSN 2192-4333 Número de páginas: XIII, 267 p. 62 illus Il.: online resource ISBN/ISSN/DL: 978-3-642-38712-8 Idioma : Inglés (eng) Palabras clave: Business Health care management services administration Public health economics Medical and Management Care Administration Economics Clasificación: 658 Empresas. Organización de empresas Resumen: Within the international discussion on the structure of healthcare systems, managed care is an increasingly important topic. Over more than twenty years managed care approaches have fundamentally influenced healthcare systems in terms of patient orientation, efficiency, and quality. Experts assume that up to 20% of healthcare expenses can be saved by applying high-quality managed care approaches. By using suitable organisational forms and management principles, not only can costs be reduced, but the quality of medical service provision can be augmented. Managed care is therefore much more than a cost-cutting strategy. The goal of this book is to offer a systematic overview of the organisational forms and management instruments implemented in managed care. Advocates consider managed care to be a logical and necessary developmental step in modern healthcare systems. An increase in quality and at the same time a reduction of costs is not seen as contradictory but rather as consistent. Therefore, managed care is a response to changed challenges in the provision of healthcare Nota de contenido: Basic Ideas of Managed Care -- Managed Care Organisations and Products -- Managed Care Instruments -- Evaluation of Managed Care En línea: http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/978-3-642-38712-8 Link: https://biblioteca.cunef.edu/gestion/catalogo/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=36618 Healthcare Management : Managed Care Organisations and Instruments [documento electrónico] / Volker Eric Amelung ; SpringerLink (Online service) . - Berlin, Heidelberg : Springer Berlin Heidelberg : Imprint: Springer, 2013 . - XIII, 267 p. 62 illus : online resource. - (Springer Texts in Business and Economics, ISSN 2192-4333) .
