Título : Investigating the Performance of Chinese Banks: Efficiency and Risk Features Tipo de documento: documento electrónico Autores: Tan, Yong ; SpringerLink (Online service) Editorial: London : Palgrave Macmillan UK Fecha de publicación: 2016 Otro editor: Imprint: Palgrave Macmillan Colección: Palgrave Macmillan Studies in Banking and Financial Institutions Número de páginas: XIV, 200 p. 43 illus Il.: online resource ISBN/ISSN/DL: 978-1-137-49376-7 Idioma : Inglés (eng) Palabras clave: Finance Corporations Banks and banking Corporate Banking Clasificación: 330 Economía en general Resumen: This book applies econometric techniques to test the relationship between efficiency and risk within the banking industry in China. Chapters examine how efficiency has been affected by different types of risk-taking behaviour and how risk has been an important determinant of bank efficiency in the context of the series of reforms impacting banks in China since 1978. The author begins by unpacking these reforms and proceeds to explain relevant theories of efficiency and bank risk before reviewing empirical literature in evaluating risk and efficiency in the banking industry. He then investigates the issues of efficiency and risk in the Chinese banking industry using a number of modern econometric techniques. The final chapters present the results of original empirical research conducted by the author, and provide valuable implications to Chinese government as well as banking regulatory authorities to make relevant policies. Título : Monetary Analysis at Central Banks Tipo de documento: documento electrónico Autores: David Cobham ; SpringerLink (Online service) Editorial: London : Palgrave Macmillan UK Fecha de publicación: 2016 Otro editor: Imprint: Palgrave Macmillan Número de páginas: XI, 139 p. 30 illus., 2 illus. in color Il.: online resource ISBN/ISSN/DL: 978-1-137-59335-1 Idioma : Inglés (eng) Palabras clave: Finance, Public Banks and banking Economics Management science Economic policy Economics, general Banking Policy Finance Clasificación: 330 Economía en general Resumen: Whatever happened to the money supply? This book explains how the analysis of monetary and credit aggregates is undertaken at the Bank of England, the European Central Bank and (as an example of a developing country) the Bank of Tanzania. The book also explores how this analysis relates to these central banks' monetary policy strategies and how it feeds into policymaking. An editorial introduction provides the intellectual and historical background - from the contributions of key economists such as Milton Friedman and Jacques Polak, to monetary targeting and inflation targeting - and argues that central banks and policy analysts would be foolish to neglect the insights monetary analysis can offer. The papers compiled in Monetary Analysis at Central Banks demonstrate just how useful and varied those insights are Nota de contenido: 1. Introduction: Monetary Analysis and Monetary Policy; David Cobham -- 2. The Analysis of Money and Credit during the Financial Crisis: The Approach at the Bank of England; Jon Bridges, James Cloyne, Ryland Thomas and Alex Tuckett -- 3. Central Banks as Balance Sheets of Last Resort: The ECB's Monetary Policy in a Flow-of-funds Perspective; Philippine Cour-Thimann and Bernhard Winkler -- 4. Evolving Monetary Policy Frameworks in Low Income Countries: The Tanzanian Experience; Christopher Adam, Pantaleo Kessy and Ben Langford En línea: http://dx.doi.org/10.1057/978-1-137-59335-1 Link: https://biblioteca.cunef.edu/gestion/catalogo/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=42103 Monetary Analysis at Central Banks [documento electrónico] / David Cobham ; SpringerLink (Online service) . - London : Palgrave Macmillan UK : Imprint: Palgrave Macmillan, 2016 . - XI, 139 p. 30 illus., 2 illus. in color : online resource.

Título : Valuing Banks : A New Corporate Finance Approach Tipo de documento: documento electrónico Autores: Federico Beltrame ; Previtali, Daniele ; SpringerLink (Online service) Editorial: London : Palgrave Macmillan UK Fecha de publicación: 2016 Otro editor: Imprint: Palgrave Macmillan Colección: Palgrave Macmillan Studies in Banking and Financial Institutions Número de páginas: XXIV, 242 p. 19 illus Il.: online resource ISBN/ISSN/DL: 978-1-137-56142-8 Idioma : Inglés (eng) Palabras clave: Finance Corporations Banks and banking Risk management Capital market investments Banking Markets Corporate Investment Appraisal Management Clasificación: 330 Economía en general Resumen: Bank valuation is one of the most difficult topics to address in corporate finance. The application of standard valuation methodologies can be limited and heavily influenced by the varying specifics of regulation, business process, equity and debt capital function (among others) among banks. Generally, these limitations result in the application of a simplified equity-side approach based on dividends. Yet, dividends represent a synthetic measure of cash and, therefore, often do not present an accurate view of the value creation process in terms of cash flows. This book aims to overcome the limitations the variations in bank-specifics impose by providing a bank-specific valuation theoretical framework and a new asset-side model. The book includes also a constructive comparison of equity and asset side methods. The authors present a novel framework entitled, the "Asset Mark-down Model". This method incorporates an Adjusted Present Value model, which allows practitioners to identify the main value creation sources of a particular bank: from asset-based cash flow and the mark-down on deposits, to tax benefits on bearing liabilities. Through the implementation of this framework, the authors offer a more accurate and more specific approach to valuing banks Nota de contenido: 1) Valuation in Banking: Issues and Models -- 2) Value, Capital Structure and Cost of Capital: A Theoretical Framework -- 3) Measuring the Cash Flows of Banks: the FCFA Asset Side Approach -- 4) The Cost of Capital of Banks: Theories and Empirical Evidences -- 5) Banks' Asset-Side Multiples: Profitability, Growth, Leverage and Deposits Effect -- 6) A Comparison Among Valuation Metrics on a Real Case En línea: http://dx.doi.org/10.1057/978-1-137-56142-8 Link: https://biblioteca.cunef.edu/gestion/catalogo/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=42048 Valuing Banks : A New Corporate Finance Approach [documento electrónico] / Federico Beltrame ; Previtali, Daniele ; SpringerLink (Online service) . - London : Palgrave Macmillan UK : Imprint: Palgrave Macmillan, 2016 . - XXIV, 242 p. 19 illus : online resource. - (Palgrave Macmillan Studies in Banking and Financial Institutions) .
