This is an outgrowth of the session by the same name which took place during the eighth international, interdisciplinary conference “Nexus 2010: Relationships between Architecture and Mathematics, held in Porto, Portugal, in June 2010. Today computer science is an integral part of even strictly historical investigations, such as those concerning the construction of vaults, where the computer is used to survey the existing building, analyse the data and draw the ideal solution. What the papers in this issue make especially evident is that information technology has had an impact at a much deeper level as well: architecture itself can now be considered as a manifestation of information and as a complex system. The issue is completed with other research papers, conference reports and book reviews En línea: http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/978-3-0348-0393-9 Link: https://biblioteca.cunef.edu/gestion/catalogo/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=32885 Architecture, Systems Research and Computational Sciences [documento electrónico] / SpringerLink (Online service) ; Kim Williams . - Basel : Springer Basel : Imprint: Birkhäuser, 2012 . - V, 195 p : online resource. - (Nexus Network Journal; 14,1) .

Título : Nexus Network Journal : Architecture, Mathematics and Structure Tipo de documento: documento electrónico Autores: SpringerLink (Online service) ; Kim Williams Editorial: Basel : Birkhäuser Basel Fecha de publicación: 2009 Colección: Nexus Network Journal num. 11,2 Número de páginas: III, 180 p Il.: online resource ISBN/ISSN/DL: 978-3-7643-8976-5 Idioma : Inglés (eng) Palabras clave: Mathematics Architecture Mathematics, general Architectural History and Theory Clasificación: 51 Matemáticas Resumen: The title of this issue of the Nexus Network Journal, "Architecture, Mathematics and Structure," is deliberately ambiguous. At first glance, it might seem to indicate the relationship between what buildings look like and how they stand up. This is indeed one aspect of what we are concerned with here. But on a deeper level, the fundamental concept of structure is what connects architecture to mathematics. Both architecture and mathematics are highly structured formal systems expressed through a symbolic language. For architecture, the generating structure might be geometrical, musical, modular, or fractal. Once we understand the nature of the structure underlying the design, we are able to "read" the meaning inherent in the architectural forms. The papers in this issue all explore themes of structure in different ways Nota de contenido: Letter from the Editor -- Letter from the Editor -- Research -- Continuity versus Discretization -- Cognitive-Mathematical Approaches for Evaluating Architectural Contextual Fit -- Nicola Zabaglia and the School of Practical Mechanics of the Fabbrica of St. Peter’s in Rome -- Mathematics for/from Society: The Role of the Module in Modernizing Japanese Architectural Production -- Can Chaos Theory Explain Complexity In Urban Fabric? Applications in Traditional Muslim Settlements -- Antonelli’s Dome for San Gaudenzio: Geometry and Statics -- Music and Architecture: A Cross between Inspiration and Method -- Using Key Diagrams to Design and Construct Roman Geometric Mosaics? -- The N4C Joint -- Didactics -- Geometries of Imaginary Space: Architectural Developments of the Ideas of M. C. Escher and Buckminster Fuller -- Mathematical Machines: A Laboratory for Mathematics -- Conference Report -- Fortification in Focus — Mathematical Methods in Military Architecture of the 16th and 17th Centuries and their Sublimation in Civil Architecture En línea: http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/978-3-7643-8976-5 Link: https://biblioteca.cunef.edu/gestion/catalogo/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=34099 Nexus Network Journal : Architecture, Mathematics and Structure [documento electrónico] / SpringerLink (Online service) ; Kim Williams . - Basel : Birkhäuser Basel, 2009 . - III, 180 p : online resource. - (Nexus Network Journal; 11,2) .

Título : Persian Architecture and Mathematics Tipo de documento: documento electrónico Autores: SpringerLink (Online service) ; Sarhangi, Reza Editorial: Basel : Springer Basel Fecha de publicación: 2012 Otro editor: Imprint: Birkhäuser Colección: Nexus Network Journal Número de páginas: III, 213 p Il.: online resource ISBN/ISSN/DL: 978-3-0348-0507-0 Idioma : Inglés (eng) Palabras clave: Mathematics Architecture Mathematics, general Architecture, Clasificación: 51 Matemáticas Resumen: This volulme features eight original papers dedicated to the theme “Persian Architecture and Mathematics,” guest edited by Reza Sarhangi. All papers were approved through a rigorous process of blind peer review and edited by an interdisciplinary scientific editorial committee. Topics range from symmetry in ancient Persian architecture to the elaborate geometric patterns and complex three-dimensional structures of standing monuments of historical periods, from the expression of mathematical ideas to architectonic structures, and from decorative ornament to the representation of modern group theory and quasi-crystalline patterns. The articles discuss unique monuments Persia, including domed structures and two-dimensional patterns, which have received significant scholarly attention in recent years. This book is a unique contribution to studies of Persian architecture in relation to mathematics En línea: http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/978-3-0348-0507-0 Link: https://biblioteca.cunef.edu/gestion/catalogo/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=32898 Persian Architecture and Mathematics [documento electrónico] / SpringerLink (Online service) ; Sarhangi, Reza . - Basel : Springer Basel : Imprint: Birkhäuser, 2012 . - III, 213 p : online resource. - (Nexus Network Journal) .
