It is a first step in responding to the challenge of generating just such a discourse, based on a dilemma identified in the CTC (Complexity Theories of Cities) domain. The latter has demonstrated that cities exhibit the properties of natural, organic complex systems: they are open, complex and bottom-up, have fractal structures and are often chaotic. CTC have further shown that many of the mathematical formalisms and models developed to study material and organic complex systems also apply to cities. The dilemma in the current state of CTC is that cities differ from natural complex systems in that they are hybrid complex systems composed, on the one hand, of artifacts such as buildings, roads and bridges, and of natural human agents on the other. This raises a plethora of new questions on the difference between the natural and the artificial, the cognitive origin of human action and behavior, and the role of planning and designing cities. The answers to these questions cannot come from a single discipline; they must instead emerge from a discourse between experts from several disciplines engaged in CTC Nota de contenido: Introduction -- Part I: Complexity, Cognition and Cities -- 1. What makes cities complex? -- 2. Evolving a Plan: Design and Planning with Complexity -- 3. Self-organization and design as complementary pair -- 4. Cultivating complexity: The need for a shift in cognition -- 5. The fourth sustainability, creativity: Statistical associations and credible mechanism -- 6. Título : Cosmopolitan Managers : Executive Development that Works Tipo de documento: documento electrónico Autores: Santiago Íñiguez de Onzoño ; SpringerLink (Online service) Editorial: London : Palgrave Macmillan UK Fecha de publicación: 2016 Otro editor: Imprint: Palgrave Macmillan Colección: IE Business Publishing Número de páginas: XXVII, 231 p. 5 illus., 4 illus. in color Il.: online resource ISBN/ISSN/DL: 978-1-137-54909-9 Idioma : Inglés (eng) Palabras clave: Business Public relations Management Leadership Personnel management Economics Education Economic aspects and Strategy/Leadership Human Resource Popular Science in / Corporate Communication/Public Relations Clasificación: 658 Empresas. Organización de empresas Resumen: Executive education is a billion dollar industry that has the potential to transform individual and organizational performance, but in too many cases the decision whether or not to lavish it upon any given manager comes down to whether the fear that they will leave if you don't spend money on them is greater than the fear that they will leave if you do. Given that the future of your business, or your career, depends on developing your managerial talent to its fullest potential, isn't it time we took a serious look at how do you design and deliver an executive education program that is fit for purpose? Santiago Iñiguez is Dean of the prestigious IE Business School in Madrid - one of the world's leading providers of executive education. From the impact of MOOCs to the evolution of new multi-dimensional strategic alliances between companies and a diverse range of international education suppliers, institutions, and consultancies, Iñiguez looks at how the future of executive education is changing to meet the needs and wants of top managerial talent. Part of the solution, Iñiguez argues, is to balance the technical, analysis-based "engineering" training that forms the basis of many senior managers' initial study, with a more rounded, integrated approach that includes learning derived from the humanities, such as art and history. Illustrated with fascinating examples drawn from interviews with some of the most influential figures in business education and corporate training around the World, Iñiguez's book delivers a unique perspective and valuable insights on what it takes to deliver world-class corporate training Nota de contenido: Foreword; Dr Nick H.M. van Dam, Global Chief Learning Officer, Mckinsey & Company -- Part I: In-company executive education and development -- 1. Human Resources management and leadership development -- 2. Executive education examined -- 3. The managerial lifecycle -- 4. Blending technology and learning -- 5. Challenges and opportunities of implementing diversity and inclusion -- Part II: Growing cosmopolitan managers -- 8. Creating learning communities -- 9. Título : Evaluating Water Projects : Cost-Benefit Analysis Versus Win-Win Approach Tipo de documento: documento electrónico Autores: Per-Olov Johansson ; SpringerLink (Online service) ; Bengt Kriström Editorial: Berlin, Heidelberg : Springer Berlin Heidelberg Fecha de publicación: 2013 Otro editor: Imprint: Springer Colección: SpringerBriefs in Economics, ISSN 2191-5504 Número de páginas: VIII, 67 p. 11 illus., 2 illus. in color Il.: online resource ISBN/ISSN/DL: 978-3-642-36790-8 Idioma : Inglés (eng) Palabras clave: Water pollution Environmental economics Economics Waste Technology / Pollution Control Management Aquatic Clasificación: 658 Empresas. Organización de empresas Resumen: Should more water be diverted to or from electricity generation? This timely question is addressed in this short volume. Two different approaches are introduced and compared: The first is a cost-benefit analysis, examining the case of re-regulating a Swedish hydropower plant in which water is diverted from electricity generation to the downstream dryway. The proposed scenario generates environmental and other benefits, but comes at a cost in terms of lost electricity. The second study introduces an approach very different from the one used in conventional cost-benefit analysis, and provides a set of measures designed so that most, if not all, affected parties will be better off. Thus, in contrast to a conventional cost-benefit analysis, which draws on hypothetical compensation measures, the new approach envisages actual compensation. Comparing two different theoretical frameworks on the basis of a real-world case, this study can be seen as a manual that can be used to evaluate reasonably small re-regulation of rivers Nota de contenido: Preface -- 1 Introduction -- 2 The Dönje Hydropower Scenario.- 3 The -2,+1 Hydropower Scenario -- 4 A Brief Comparison of the Approaches and an Outlook -- References -- Appendices -- Index En línea: http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/978-3-642-36790-8 Link: https://biblioteca.cunef.edu/gestion/catalogo/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=36599 Evaluating Water Projects : Cost-Benefit Analysis Versus Win-Win Approach [documento electrónico] / Per-Olov Johansson ; SpringerLink (Online service) ; Bengt Kriström . - Berlin, Heidelberg : Springer Berlin Heidelberg : Imprint: Springer, 2013 . - VIII, 67 p. 11 illus., 2 illus. in color : online resource. - (SpringerBriefs in Economics, ISSN 2191-5504) .

These stakeholders have conflicting requirements and the book offers advice on how and by what methods they can communicate and the information that is expected and required in different phases of innovation. The perspectives of inventor, decision maker and organization are integrated in a business model that enables a common “language” and communication platform for the inevitably emerging tension field and that allows for asking and answering the right questions Nota de contenido: Introduction -- Creative Destruction -- Innovation -- Business Models -- Innovation Culture and Innovation Management -- Invention -- Creativity -- Outlook -- Indices En línea: http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/978-3-642-54171-1 Link: https://biblioteca.cunef.edu/gestion/catalogo/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=35681 From Idea to Innovation : A Handbook for Inventors, Decision Makers and Organizations [documento electrónico] / Bernd X.
