Organización de empresas Resumen: This book is the first to present a detailed analysis of economic integration of immigrants in smaller areas of their host nations. It uses Atlantic Canada as a case in point and uses unpublished data based on several databases of Statistics Canada and Citizenship and Immigration, Canada. It identifies best policy practices that can also be used in other countries to address demographic challenges similar to those facing Canada, for example population ageing and youth out-migration from smaller regions to larger regions, through immigration. Economic integration of immigrants in Atlantic Canada is faster and better than it is nationally. An overarching result is that an analysis of regional data can lead to very different policy conclusions than the analysis of national data, which means that it can be risky to devise immigration policy based only on national data. A clear message is that economic benefits from immigration can be enhanced by facilitating a broader geographic distribution of immigrants, rather than maintaining their concentration in a few larger urban regions. A must read for immigration and population policy makers, immigrant settlement agencies and academic researchers Nota de contenido: List of charts -- List of tables -- Acknowledgements -- Foreword -- Chapter1: Introduction -- Chapter 2: Some Demographic Trends in Atlantic Canada: Potential Consequences and Policy Response -- Chapter 3: Immigration Trends in Atlantic Canada -- Chapter 4: Immigrants in the Labour Force of Atlantic Canada -- Chapter 5: International Students in Atlantic Canada -- Chapter 6: Summary and Policy Recommendations -- List of References En línea: http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/978-94-007-6244-2 Link: https://biblioteca.cunef.edu/gestion/catalogo/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=36752 Immigrants in Regional Labour Markets of Host Nations : Some Evidence from Atlantic Canada [documento electrónico] / Syed Ather Hussain Akbari ; SpringerLink (Online service) . - Dordrecht : Springer Netherlands : Imprint: Springer, 2013 . - X, 95 p. 28 illus : online resource. - (SpringerBriefs in Population Studies, ISSN 2211-3215) .

Título : Social Protection and Social Development : International Initiatives Tipo de documento: documento electrónico Autores: Julie L. Drolet ; SpringerLink (Online service) Editorial: Dordrecht : Springer Netherlands Fecha de publicación: 2014 Otro editor: Imprint: Springer Colección: SpringerBriefs in Population Studies, ISSN 2211-3215 Número de páginas: X, 163 p Il.: online resource ISBN/ISSN/DL: 978-94-007-7878-8 Idioma : Inglés (eng) Palabras clave: Human rights Climate change Sustainable development Social policy work Economics Policy Work Change Rights Development Clasificación: 658 Empresas. Organización de empresas Resumen: The Social Protection Floor Initiative promotes universal access to essential social transfers and services. Presently 80% of the global population does not enjoy a set of social guarantees that allows them to deal with life’s risks such as unemployment, ill health, and natural disasters. This book explores the importance and necessity of social protection, including key concepts, universal principles and human rights, the need for context-specific policies, the role of adaptive climate change, and country examples. Social protection refers to a set of essential transfers, services and facilities that all citizens everywhere should enjoy to ensure the realization of the rights embodied in human rights treaties. The Social Protection Floor aims to facilitate and accelerate the introduction or strengthening of sustainable context-specific social protection systems. Experiences from countries around the world that have implemented components of the Social Protection Floor provide evidence of its feasibility, affordability, and impact. The promise and success of social protection is important for transformative change, social inclusion, and alliance building, and raises critical questions about current neoliberal austerity measures. This book calls for a comprehensive, multi-dimensional, integrated and innovative policy mix that recognizes the interdependency between demographic shifts, employment, labour migration, social protection, economic development, and the environment Nota de contenido: Background to the Social Protection Initiative -- International Instruments -- Definition of the Social Protection Floor -- Adaptive Social Protection -- Country Developments and Initiatives -- Appendices En línea: http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/978-94-007-7878-8 Link: https://biblioteca.cunef.edu/gestion/catalogo/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=36342 Social Protection and Social Development : International Initiatives [documento electrónico] / Julie L.
