Título : Development Patterns of Material Productivity : Convergence or Divergence? Tipo de documento: documento electrónico Autores: Larissa Talmon-Gros ; SpringerLink (Online service) Editorial: Cham : Springer International Publishing Fecha de publicación: 2014 Otro editor: Imprint: Springer Colección: Contributions to Economics, ISSN 1431-1933 Número de páginas: XIX, 210 p. 25 illus Il.: online resource ISBN/ISSN/DL: 978-3-319-02538-4 Idioma : Inglés (eng) Palabras clave: Management Industrial management Sustainable development Econometrics Economic growth Environmental economics Economics Growth Development Innovation/Technology Clasificación: 658 Empresas. Organización de empresas Resumen: Increasing concerns regarding the world’s natural resources and sustainability continue to be a major issue for global development. As a result several political initiatives and strategies for green or resource-efficient growth both on national and international levels have been proposed. A core element of these initiatives is the promotion of an increase of resource or material productivity. This dissertation examines material productivity developments in the OECD and BRICS countries between 1980 and 2008. By applying the concept of convergence stemming from economic growth theory to material productivity the analysis provides insights into both aspects: material productivity developments in general as well as potentials for accelerated improvements in material productivity which consequently may allow a reduction of material use globally. The results of the convergence analysis underline the importance of policy-making with regard to technology and innovation policy enabling the production of resource-efficient products and services as well as technology transfer and diffusion Nota de contenido: Introduction -- Overuse, Scarcity and the Debate About Sustainable Development -- The Relationship Between Technological Progress and Material Consumption -- Convergence - Theory, Econometrics and Empirics -- Material Productivity Measurement -- Empirical Evidence on the Development of Material Consumption and Material Productivity -- Research Question -- Data and Descriptive Statistics -- Examination of Material Productivity Convergence -- Discussion -- Conclusion En línea: http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/978-3-319-02538-4 Link: https://biblioteca.cunef.edu/gestion/catalogo/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=35999 Development Patterns of Material Productivity : Convergence or Divergence? Título : Economic Cycles in Emerging and Advanced Countries : Synchronization, International Spillovers and the Decoupling Hypothesis Tipo de documento: documento electrónico Autores: Antonio Pesce ; SpringerLink (Online service) Editorial: Cham : Springer International Publishing Fecha de publicación: 2015 Otro editor: Imprint: Springer Colección: Contributions to Economics, ISSN 1431-1933 Número de páginas: XVIII, 173 p. 30 illus., 27 illus. in color Il.: online resource ISBN/ISSN/DL: 978-3-319-17085-5 Idioma : Inglés (eng) Palabras clave: Trade Business Commerce Econometrics Macroeconomics International economics Economic policy Economics Macroeconomics/Monetary Economics//Financial Policy Clasificación: 658 Empresas. Organización de empresas Resumen: This book contributes to the debate on the decoupling of emerging economies from the advanced economies with a new, empirical investigation approach. Taking counterfactual experiments performed using a time-varying panel VAR model, the author argues that over the last thirty years, emerging economies have become less vulnerable to shocks spreading from advanced economies. This resilience to external shocks has changed in a non-progressive manner over time, with phases of greater resilience followed by others of lower resilience and vice versa. This research outlines its wave-like path and presents new results that contribute to the discussion Nota de contenido: Introduction -- The Decoupling of Emerging Economies, a Long-Debated Issue but Still an Open Question. Organización de empresas Resumen: The European economy is still in recession, even though there are some weak indications of stabilization. This book examines important aspects of the crisis in selected countries of Southern Europe, the Balkans and Eastern Europe. The intensity of the crisis and its economic and social repercussions have varied from country to country, generally impacting the core countries less than those on the periphery. The countries in the latter group currently face significant structural challenges with regard to improving productivity and competitiveness, including the areas of investment, climate, the labour market, and the public sector. The book not only illustrates the scope of the problem, but also informs readers on the policies implemented to address it, and discusses the progress some of the economies have already made. Special topics include the convergence hypothesis, agriculture and growth, Public-Private Partnership in Infrastructure (PPPI), and the labour market Nota de contenido: A Country's Process of Development as Described by a CUSP Catastrophe Model - The Case of Eastern European and Baltic Countries -- Empirical Analysis of the Shadow Economy of the South East European Countries -- Investigating the Convergence Hypothesis in the EU: More Evidence Accounting for Structural Breaks -- The Debate About Political Crisis: How Corruption, Favoritism and Institutional Ambiguity Shape Business Strategies in Ukraine -- Optimum Currency Area Theory, Nominal and Real Convergence Controversies and the European Experience After the Recent Global Economic Crisis -- Agriculture's Role in Economic Growth: An Exploratory Study Among Southern and Northern EU Countries -- Catastrophic Risk in Local Government Units - Search for Optimal Risk Management -- Infrastructure Public Private Partnership Investments: A Comparative Analysis of Western Balkan and Emerging Countries -- Would Consumers Be Willing to Buy Woody Biomass Energy Products of Transgenic Origin?
