Título : Business Analytics : A Practitioner’s Guide Tipo de documento: documento electrónico Autores: Saxena, Rahul ; SpringerLink (Online service) ; Srinivasan, Anand Editorial: New York, NY : Springer New York Fecha de publicación: 2013 Otro editor: Imprint: Springer Colección: International Series in Operations Research & Management Science, ISSN 0884-8289 num. 186 Número de páginas: XII, 164 p Il.: online resource ISBN/ISSN/DL: 978-1-4614-6080-0 Idioma : Inglés (eng) Palabras clave: Business Management science Operations research Decision making and Operation Research/Decision Theory Management, general Research, Science Clasificación: 658 Empresas. Organización de empresas Resumen: Business analytics is used to help people to make and execute rational decisions. This book provides a guide to businesses on how to use analytics to help drive from ideas to execution. Analytics used in this way provides full lifecycle support for business during all stages of decision-making and execution. The domain of business analytics is becoming recognized and established as a distinct profession. Many companies have created specialized business analytics teams, and several educational institutions offer courses and degrees in analytics. The people in these groups draw upon Operations Research, Statistics, and the Information Technology practices for Business Intelligence, Analytics & Optimization. Practitioners, academics, and consultants are working craft the concepts, processes, and structures needed to establish business analytics capabilities in their specific organizations. This book offers a set of proven concepts, processes, and structures that can help organizations to set up and evolve their analytics capabilities. The word “analytics” conjures up different images for different people depending on the function that they work in. Business and academic organizations share an enthusiastic appreciation of the realm of business analytics, but they do not necessarily have a common understanding of all that it comprises. This divergence presents organizational challenges in terms of organizational design, roles, skills development planning, educational needs, and career paths in analytics organizations. Effective application of analytics involves a confluence of traditional business, mathematical modeling and information technology capabilities. This book provides a framework for the effective interplay of these capabilities to go from ideas to execution. The framework for business analytics is also used to embed the use of business analytics into the business culture. It lays out the approach for analytics and provides guidance on how to scale analytics and how to develop analytics teams. It offers a set of proven concepts, processes, and structures that show how organizations can set up and evolve their analytics capabilities in order to achieve benefits in their strategy and operations. As a guide for practitioners and managers, the book will benefit people who work in analytics teams, the managers and leaders who manage, use and sponsor analytics, and those who work with and support business analytics teams. It includes several real world case studies on applying the concepts of business analytics to decision making to help the practitioner understand the framework and extend it to their specific need. Título : Complementarity Modeling in Energy Markets Tipo de documento: documento electrónico Autores: Gabriel, Steven A ; SpringerLink (Online service) ; Conejo, Antonio J ; Fuller, J. David ; Hobbs, Benjamin F ; Ruiz, Carlos Editorial: New York, NY : Springer New York Fecha de publicación: 2013 Otro editor: Imprint: Springer Colección: International Series in Operations Research & Management Science, ISSN 0884-8289 num. 180 Número de páginas: XXVI, 630 p Il.: online resource ISBN/ISSN/DL: 978-1-4419-6123-5 Idioma : Inglés (eng) Palabras clave: Business Operations research Decision making Management science Macroeconomics and Operation Research/Decision Theory Macroeconomics/Monetary Economics//Financial Economics Research, Science Clasificación: 658 Empresas. Organización de empresas Resumen: This addition to the ISOR series introduces complementarity models in a straightforward and approachable manner and uses them to carry out an in-depth analysis of energy markets, including formulation issues and solution techniques. In a nutshell, complementarity models generalize: a. optimization problems via their Karush-Kuhn-Tucker conditions b. non-cooperative games in which each player may be solving a separate but related optimization problem with potentially overall system constraints (e.g., market-clearing conditions) c. economic and engineering problems that aren’t specifically derived from optimization problems (e.g., spatial price equilibria) d. problems in which both primal and dual variables (prices) appear in the original formulation (e.g., The National Energy Modeling System (NEMS) or its precursor, PIES). As such, complementarity models are a very general and flexible modeling format. A natural question is why concentrate on energy markets for this complementarity approach? As it turns out, energy or other markets that have game theoretic aspects are best modeled by complementarity problems. The reason is that the traditional perfect competition approach no longer applies due to deregulation and restructuring of these markets and thus the corresponding optimization problems may no longer hold. Also, in some instances it is important in the original model formulation to involve both primal variables (e.g., production) as well as dual variables (e.g., market prices) for public and private sector energy planning. Traditional optimization problems can not directly handle this mixing of primal and dual variables but complementarity models can and this makes them all that more effective for decision-makers Nota de contenido: Introduction and Motivation -- Optimality and Complementarity -- Some Microeconomic Principles -- Equilibria and Complementarity Problems -- Variational Inequality Problems -- Optimization Problems Constrained by Optimization Problems -- Equilibrium Problems with Equilibrium Constraints -- Algorithm for LCPs, NCPs, and VIs -- Some Advanced Algorithms for VI Decomposition, MPCCs and EPECs -- Natural Gas Market Modeling -- Electricity and Environmental Markets -- Multicommodity Equilibrium Models: Accounting for Demand-Side Linkages En línea: http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/978-1-4419-6123-5 Link: https://biblioteca.cunef.edu/gestion/catalogo/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=36389 Complementarity Modeling in Energy Markets [documento electrónico] / Gabriel, Steven A ; SpringerLink (Online service) ; Conejo, Antonio J ; Fuller, J. Título : Handbook of Global Logistics : Transportation in International Supply Chains Tipo de documento: documento electrónico Autores: SpringerLink (Online service) ; Bookbinder, James H Editorial: New York, NY : Springer New York Fecha de publicación: 2013 Otro editor: Imprint: Springer Colección: International Series in Operations Research & Management Science, ISSN 0884-8289 num. 181 Número de páginas: XVI, 552 p Il.: online resource ISBN/ISSN/DL: 978-1-4419-6132-7 Idioma : Inglés (eng) Palabras clave: Business Operations research Decision making and Management Operation Research/Decision Theory Clasificación: 658 Empresas. Organización de empresas Resumen: Global logistics entails tradeoffs in facility location, distribution networks, the routing and scheduling of deliveries by different modes of travel (e.g., air, water, truck, rail), procurement, and the overall management of international supply chains. In an increasingly global economy, then, logistics has become a very important matter in the success or failure of an organization. It is an integral part of supply chain management that involves not just operations management considerations, but production engineering and regional science issues as well. As Director of the prestigious Waterloo Management of Integrated Manufacturing Systems Research Group (WATMIMS), which specializes in logistics and manufacturing, Jim Bookbinder is uniquely qualified to edit a handbook on global logistics. He has aligned a set of prominent contributors for this volume. The chapters in the Handbook are organized into discrete sections that examine modes; logistics in particular countries; operations within a free-trade zone; innovative features impacting international logistics; case studies of specific companies; and a look toward the future. Contributors are from the Americas, Europe, and Asia, and they push the state of the art in areas such as trade vs. security; border issues; cabotage within NAFTA; Green logistics corridors within the EU; inland ports; direct-to-store considerations; and all the questions that need to be confronted in any given region. This will certainly appeal to researchers and practitioners alike, and could serve as required or supplementary reading in graduate-level logistics courses as well Nota de contenido: Logistics in China -- Electronic Procurement Systems in India: Importance and Impact on Supply Chain Operations -- Use of Third Party Logistics Services: An Asia-Pacific Perspective -- The Greater Mekong Sub-region of Southeast Asia: Improving Logistics Connectivity -- Strategic and Tactical Modeling in the Argentine Sugar Industry -- Integration of International and Cabotage Container Shipping in Brazil -- Latin American Logistics/Supply Chain Management: Perspective from the Research Literature -- Logistics in the Oresund Region of Scandinavia -- Green Corridors in European Surface Freight Logistics -- Containerized Freight Distribution in North America and Europe -- Network Redesign in Turkey: The Supply, Production, and Distribution of Malt and Beer -- Procurement from Developing Countries -- Innovative Logistics in Extreme Conditions: The Case of Health-Care Delivery in Gambia -- Comparative Analysis of Air Freight Networks in Regional Markets Around the Globe -- Business Models and Network Design in Hinterland Transport -- Cross-Border Issues and Research -- On the Relationships Among Facility Location, Transportation Mode Selection and Material Flow Costs in Global Supply Chains.
