Organización de empresas Resumen: Recent achievements in hardware and software development, such as multi-core CPUs and DRAM capacities of multiple terabytes per server, enabled the introduction of a revolutionary technology: in-memory data management. This technology supports the flexible and extremely fast analysis of massive amounts of enterprise data. Professor Hasso Plattner and his research group at the Hasso Plattner Institute in Potsdam, Germany, have been investigating and teaching the corresponding concepts and their adoption in the software industry for years. This book is based on the first online course on the openHPI e-learning platform, which was launched in autumn 2012 with more than 13,000 learners. The book is designed for students of computer science, software engineering, and IT related subjects. However, it addresses business experts, decision makers, software developers, technology experts, and IT analysts alike. Plattner and his group focus on exploring the inner mechanics of a column-oriented dictionary-encoded in-memory database. Covered topics include - amongst others - physical data storage and access, basic database operators, compression mechanisms, and parallel join algorithms. Beyond that, implications for future enterprise applications and their development are discussed. Readers are lead to understand the radical differences and advantages of the new technology over traditional row-oriented disk-based databases Nota de contenido: Introduction -- The Future of Enterprise Computing: New Requirements for Enterprise Computing -- Enterprise Application Characteristics -- Changes in Hardware -- A Blueprint of SanssouciDB -- Foundations of Database Storage Techniques: Dictionary Encoding -- Compression -- Data Layout in Main Memory -- Partitioning -- In-Memory Database Operators: Delete.- Insert -- Update.- Tuple Reconstruction -- Scan Performance -- Select -- Materialization Strategies.- Parallel Data Processing -- Indices -- Join -- Aggregate Functions -- Parallel Select -- Workload Management and Scheduling -- Parallel Join -- Parallel Aggregation -- Advanced Database Storage Techniques: Differential Buffer -- Insert- Only -- The Merge Process -- Logging -- Recovery -- On-the-fly Database Reorganization -- Foundations for a New Enterprise Application Development Era: Implications on Application Development -- Database Views -- Handling Business Objects -- Bypass Solution -- Self Test Solution En línea: http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/978-3-642-36524-9 Link: https://biblioteca.cunef.edu/gestion/catalogo/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=36590 A Course in In-Memory Data Management : The Inner Mechanics of In-Memory Databases [documento electrónico] / Hasso Plattner ; SpringerLink (Online service) . - Berlin, Heidelberg : Springer Berlin Heidelberg : Imprint: Springer, 2013 . - XXIII, 297 p : online resource.

Organización de empresas Resumen: This book summarizes the results of Design Thinking Research carried out at Stanford University in Palo Alto, California, USA, and Hasso Plattner Institute in Potsdam, Germany. The authors offer readers a closer look at Design Thinking with its processes of innovations and methods. The contents of the articles range from how to design ideas, methods, and technologies via creativity experiments and wicked problem solutions, to creative collaboration in the real world and the connectivity of designers and engineers. But the topics go beyond this in their detailed exploration of design thinking and its use in IT systems engineering fields and even from a management perspective. The authors show how these methods and strategies work in companies, introduce new technologies and their functions and demonstrate how Design Thinking can influence as diverse a topic area as marriage. Furthermore, we see how special design thinking use functions in solving wicked problems in complex fields. Thinking and creating innovations are basically and inherently human – so is Design Thinking. Due to this, Design Thinking is not only a factual matter or a result of special courses nor of being gifted or trained: it’s a way of dealing with our environment and improving techniques, technologies and life Nota de contenido: All Design Activity is Ultimately Social in Nature -- Design Thinkers Must Preserve Ambiguity -- All Design is Re-design -- Make Ideas Tangible En línea: http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/978-3-319-01303-9 Link: https://biblioteca.cunef.edu/gestion/catalogo/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=35976 Design Thinking Research : Building Innovation Eco-Systems [documento electrónico] / SpringerLink (Online service) ; Larry Leifer ; Hasso Plattner ; Christoph Meinel . - Cham : Springer International Publishing : Imprint: Springer, 2014 . - VIII, 252 p : online resource. - (Understanding Innovation, ISSN 2197-5752) .

Organización de empresas Resumen: Design thinking as a user-centric innovation method has become more and more widespread during the past years. An increasing number of people and institutions have experienced its innovative power. While at the same time the demand has grown for a deep, evidence-based understanding of the way design thinking functions. This challenge is addressed by the Design Thinking Research Program between Stanford University, Palo Alto, USA, and Hasso Plattner Institute, Potsdam, Germany. Summarizing the outcomes of the 5th program year, this book imparts the scientific findings gained by the researchers through their investigations, experiments, and studies. The method of design thinking works when applied with diligence and insight. With this book and the underlying research projects, we aim to understand the innovation process of design thinking and the people behind it. The contributions ultimately center on the issue of building innovators. The focus of the investigation is on what people are doing and thinking when engaged in creative design innovation and how their innovation work can be supported. Therefore, within three topic areas, various frameworks, methodologies, mindsets, systems and tools are explored and further developed. The book begins with an assessment of crucial factors for innovators such as empathy and creativity, the second part addresses the improvement of team collaboration and finally we turn to specific tools and approaches which ensure information transfer during the design process. All in all, the contributions shed light and show deeper insights how to support the work of design teams in order to systematically and successfully develop innovations and design progressive solutions for tomorrow Nota de contenido: Introduction -- Assessing Influential Factors in Design Thinking -- Empowering Team Collaboration -- Support in Information Transfer En línea: http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/978-3-319-06823-7 Link: https://biblioteca.cunef.edu/gestion/catalogo/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=35418 Design Thinking Research : Building Innovators [documento electrónico] / SpringerLink (Online service) ; Hasso Plattner ; Christoph Meinel ; Larry Leifer . - Cham : Springer International Publishing : Imprint: Springer, 2015 . - VIII, 289 p. 121 illus : online resource. - (Understanding Innovation, ISSN 2197-5752) .

Organización de empresas Resumen: What is the actual impact of design thinking? Which tools and techniques could conceivably improve team interaction in design processes? What influences creativity? And how can information be secured? These are just a few of the questions that were addressed by research teams from Stanford University, USA, and the Hasso Plattner Institute for Software Systems Engineering, Potsdam, Germany, within their joint Design Thinking Research Program. Scientists from both institutions have been studying the user-centric innovation method of design thinking for many years now to gain a deep, evidence-based understanding of its underlying principles and functioning. The outcome of their studies, experiments and investigations in the sixth program year are summarized in this volume. Again research covers a diverse range of design thinking domains. The aim, however, is not only to advance design thinking theory and knowledge within the research community. Rather the program strives to ultimately improve design practice and education by gathering scientific evidence that supports design activities. The first part of this book presents tools and techniques for improved team interaction that have been investigated and developed by the research teams. Creativity and creative confidence as central factors in design thinking are the focus of the second part. The book continues with investigations on the actual impact of design thinking and conceivable metrics. The fourth and final part of the book addresses issues of documentation and information transfer in innovation processes. By taking the understanding of innovation to a new level that is relevant to all disciplines, our research provides a significant contribution toward making design thinking a foundational science Nota de contenido: Part I: Tools and Techniques for Improved Team Interaction -- Part II: Creativity and Creative Confidence -- Part III: Measuring Design Thinking -- Part IV: Documentation and Information Transfer in Design Thinking Processes En línea: http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/978-3-319-19641-1 Link: https://biblioteca.cunef.edu/gestion/catalogo/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=41497 Design Thinking Research : Making Design Thinking Foundational [documento electrónico] / Hasso Plattner ; SpringerLink (Online service) ; Christoph Meinel ; Larry Leifer . - Cham : Springer International Publishing : Imprint: Springer, 2016 . - VIII, 290 p. 127 illus., 68 illus. in color : online resource. - (Understanding Innovation, ISSN 2197-5752) .
