Título : Emerging Applications of Algebraic Geometry Tipo de documento: documento electrónico Autores: SpringerLink (Online service) ; Mihai Putinar ; Seth Sullivant Editorial: New York, NY : Springer New York Fecha de publicación: 2009 Otro editor: Imprint: Springer Colección: The IMA Volumes in Mathematics and its Applications, ISSN 0940-6573 num. 149 Número de páginas: XI, 376 p Il.: online resource ISBN/ISSN/DL: 978-0-387-09686-5 Idioma : Inglés (eng) Palabras clave: Mathematics Algebra Algebraic geometry Applied mathematics Engineering Geometry General Systems Applications of Clasificación: 51 Matemáticas Resumen: Recent advances in both the theory and implementation of computational algebraic geometry have led to new, striking applications to a variety of fields of research. The articles in this volume highlight a range of these applications and provide introductory material for topics covered in the IMA workshops on "Optimization and Control" and "Applications in Biology, Dynamics, and Statistics" held during the IMA year on Applications of Algebraic Geometry. The articles related to optimization and control focus on burgeoning use of semidefinite programming and moment matrix techniques in computational real algebraic geometry. The new direction towards a systematic study of non-commutative real algebraic geometry is well represented in the volume. Other articles provide an overview of the way computational algebra is useful for analysis of contingency tables, reconstruction of phylogenetic trees, and in systems biology. The contributions collected in this volume are accessible to non-experts, self-contained and informative; they quickly move towards cutting edge research in these areas, and provide a wealth of open problems for future research Nota de contenido: Polynomial Optimization on Odd-Dimensional Spheres -- Engineering Systems and Free Semi-Algebraic Geometry -- Algebraic Statistics and Contingency Table Problems: Log-Linear Models, Likelihood Estimation, and Disclosure Limitation -- Using Invariants for Phylogenetic Tree Construction -- On the Algebraic Geometry of Polynomial Dynamical Systems -- A Unified Approach to Computing Real and Complex Zeros of Zero-Dimensional Ideals -- Sums of Squares, Moment Matrices and Optimization Over Polynomials -- Positivity and Sums of Squares: A Guide to Recent Results -- Noncommutative Real Algebraic Geometry Some Basic Concepts and First Ideas -- Open Problems in Algebraic Statistics En línea: http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/978-0-387-09686-5 Link: https://biblioteca.cunef.edu/gestion/catalogo/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=33828 Emerging Applications of Algebraic Geometry [documento electrónico] / SpringerLink (Online service) ; Mihai Putinar ; Seth Sullivant . - New York, NY : Springer New York : Imprint: Springer, 2009 . - XI, 376 p : online resource. - (The IMA Volumes in Mathematics and its Applications, ISSN 0940-6573; 149) .

It contains biographical material, a list of Bill's publications, a detailed survey of Bill's contributions to operator theory, optimization and control, and 19 technical articles. Most of the technical articles are expository and should serve as useful introductions to many of the areas which Bill's highly original contributions have helped to shape over the last forty-odd years. These include interpolation, Szegö limit theorems, Nehari problems, trace formulas, systems and control theory, convexity, matrix completion problems, linear matrix inequalities and optimization. The book should be useful to graduate students in mathematics and engineering, as well as to faculty and individuals seeking entry level introductions and references to the indicated topics. It can also serve as a supplementary text to numerous courses in pure and applied mathematics and engineering, and as a source book for seminars Nota de contenido: Preface -- Inroduction (an overview of the contents of the book, from the perspective of Helton's landmark contributions) -- Biographical Note and List of Publications of J.W. Helton -- Bounded Analytic Interpolation and H-infinity Control -- Linear Matrix Inequalities and Matrix Convexity -- Optimization and Realization in the Free *-algebra -- Automatic Verification of Matrix Inequalities -- Non-commutative Algebraic Geometry -- Non-Commutative Differential Geometry and Probability -- Modern Trends in Robust Control -- Challenges of Mathematical Biology -- Mathematical Programming and Computer Science En línea: http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/978-3-0348-0411-0 Link: https://biblioteca.cunef.edu/gestion/catalogo/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=32888 Mathematical Methods in Systems, Optimization, and Control : Festschrift in Honor of J. It is dedicated to the memory of Julius Borcea (1968-2009), a distinguished mathematician, Professor at the University of Stockholm. With his extremely original contributions and broad vision, his impact on the topics of the planned volume cannot be underestimated. Título : Quadrature Domains and Their Applications : The Harold S. Shapiro Anniversary Volume Tipo de documento: documento electrónico Autores: SpringerLink (Online service) ; Peter Ebenfelt ; Björn Gustafsson ; Dmitry Khavinson ; Mihai Putinar Editorial: Basel : Birkhäuser Basel Fecha de publicación: 2005 Colección: Operator Theory: Advances and Applications num. 156 Número de páginas: XXVIII, 278 p Il.: online resource ISBN/ISSN/DL: 978-3-7643-7316-0 Idioma : Inglés (eng) Palabras clave: Mathematics Mathematical analysis Analysis (Mathematics) Operator theory Numerical Physics Theory Methods in Theoretical, and Computational Clasificación: 51 Matemáticas Resumen: Quadrature domains were singled out about 30 years ago by D. Aharonov and H.S. Shapiro in connection with an extremal problem in function theory. Since then, a series of coincidental discoveries put this class of planar domains at the center of crossroads of several quite independent mathematical theories, e.g., potential theory, Riemann surfaces, inverse problems, holomorphic partial differential equations, fluid mechanics, operator theory. The volume is devoted to recent advances in the theory of quadrature domains, illustrating well the multi-facet aspects of their nature. The book contains a large collection of open problems pertaining to the general theme of quadrature domains Nota de contenido: What is a Quadrature Domain? -- Recent Progress and Open Problems in the Bergman Space -- The Bergman Kernel and Quadrature Domains in the Plane -- The Cauchy Transform -- Quadrature Domains and Fluid Dynamics -- On Uniformly Discrete Sequences in the Disk -- Algebraic Aspects of the Dirichlet Problem -- Linear Analysis of Quadrature Domains. IV -- Restriction, Localization and Microlocalization -- Quadrature Domains and Brownian Motion (A Heuristic Approach) -- Weighted Composition Operators Associated with Conformal Mappings -- Quadrature Identities and Deformation of Quadrature Domains -- Subharmonicity of Higher Dimensional Exponential Transforms En línea: http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/b137105 Link: https://biblioteca.cunef.edu/gestion/catalogo/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=35324 Quadrature Domains and Their Applications : The Harold S.
