Título : Permutation Testing for Isotonic Inference on Association Studies in Genetics Tipo de documento: documento electrónico Autores: Salmaso, Luigi ; SpringerLink (Online service) ; Rosa Arboretti ; Corain, Livio ; Mazzaro, Dario Editorial: Berlin, Heidelberg : Springer Berlin Heidelberg Fecha de publicación: 2011 Colección: SpringerBriefs in Statistics, ISSN 2191-544X Número de páginas: VI, 72 p. 13 illus Il.: online resource ISBN/ISSN/DL: 978-3-642-20584-2 Idioma : Inglés (eng) Palabras clave: Pharmacy Statistics Human genetics Biotechnology Biology Technique Psychometrics for Life Sciences, Medicine, Health Sciences Genetics Biological Techniques Clasificación: 51 Matemáticas Resumen: The purpose of this book is to illustrate a new statistical approach to test allelic association and genotype-specific effects in the genetic study of diseases. There are some parametric and non-parametric methods available for this purpose. We deal with population-based association studies, but comparisons with other methods will also be drawn, analysing the advantages and disadvantages of each one, particularly with regard to power properties with small sample sizes. In this framework we will work out some nonparametric statistical permutation tests and likelihood-based tests to perform case-control analyses to study allelic association between marker, disease-gene and environmental factors. Permutation tests, in particular, will be extended to multivariate and more complex studies, where we deal with several genes and several alleles together. Furthermore, we show simulations under different assumptions on the genetic model and analyse real data sets by simply studying one locus with the permutation test Nota de contenido: Introduction -- Association Studies in Genetics -- The Nonparametric Permutation Methodology -- Statistical Problems of Allelic Association -- Power and Sample Size Simulations -- Case Study -- Conclusions -- References En línea: http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/978-3-642-20584-2 Link: https://biblioteca.cunef.edu/gestion/catalogo/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=33425 Permutation Testing for Isotonic Inference on Association Studies in Genetics [documento electrónico] / Salmaso, Luigi ; SpringerLink (Online service) ; Rosa Arboretti ; Corain, Livio ; Mazzaro, Dario . - Berlin, Heidelberg : Springer Berlin Heidelberg, 2011 . - VI, 72 p. 13 illus : online resource. - (SpringerBriefs in Statistics, ISSN 2191-544X) .

Título : Permutation Tests in Shape Analysis Tipo de documento: documento electrónico Autores: Salmaso, Luigi ; SpringerLink (Online service) ; Brombin, Chiara Editorial: New York, NY : Springer New York Fecha de publicación: 2013 Otro editor: Imprint: Springer Colección: SpringerBriefs in Statistics, ISSN 2191-544X num. 15 Número de páginas: X, 95 p. 19 illus., 16 illus. in color Il.: online resource ISBN/ISSN/DL: 978-1-4614-8163-8 Idioma : Inglés (eng) Palabras clave: Statistics Statistics, general Statistical Theory and Methods for Life Sciences, Medicine, Health Sciences Clasificación: 51 Matemáticas Resumen: Statistical shape analysis is a geometrical analysis from a set of shapes in which statistics are measured to describe geometrical properties from similar shapes or different groups, for instance, the difference between male and female Gorilla skull shapes, normal and pathological bone shapes, etc. Some of the important aspects of shape analysis are to obtain a measure of distance between shapes, to estimate average shapes from a (possibly random) sample and to estimate shape variability in a sample[1]. One of the main methods used is principal component analysis. Specific applications of shape analysis may be found in archaeology, architecture, biology, geography, geology, agriculture, genetics, medical imaging, security applications such as face recognition, entertainment industry (movies, games), computer-aided design and manufacturing. This is a proposal for a new Brief on statistical shape analysis and the various new parametric and non-parametric methods utilized to facilitate shape analysis. Título : Statistical Methods for the Evaluation of Educational Services and Quality of Products Tipo de documento: documento electrónico Autores: SpringerLink (Online service) ; Monari, Paola ; Matilde Bini ; Piccolo, Domenico ; Salmaso, Luigi Editorial: Heidelberg : Physica-Verlag HD Fecha de publicación: 2009 Otro editor: Imprint: Physica Colección: Contributions to Statistics, ISSN 1431-1968 Número de páginas: XV, 243 p Il.: online resource ISBN/ISSN/DL: 978-3-7908-2385-1 Idioma : Inglés (eng) Palabras clave: Social sciences Mathematical models Probabilities Assessment Statistics Sciences Methodology of the Modeling and Industrial Mathematics Probability Theory Stochastic Processes for Science, Behavorial Education, Public Policy, Law Assessment, Testing Evaluation Clasificación: 51 Matemáticas Resumen: The book presents statistical methods and models that can usefully support the evaluation of educational services and quality of products. The evaluation of educational services, as well as the analysis of judgments and preferences, poses severe methodological challenges because of the presence of the following aspects: the observational nature of the context, which is associated with the problems of selection bias and presence of nuisance factors; the hierarchical structure of the data (multilevel analysis); the multivariate and qualitative nature of the dependent variable; the presence of non observable factors, e.g. the satisfaction, calling for the use of latent variables models; the simultaneous presence of components of pleasure and components of uncertainty in the explication of the judgments, that asks for the specification and estimation of mixture models. The contributions concern methodological advances developed mostly with reference to specific problems of evaluation using real data sets Nota de contenido: Latent variable models for ordinal data -- Issues on item response theory modelling -- Nonlinearity in the analysis of longitudinal data -- Multilevel models for the evaluation of educational institutions: a review -- Multilevel mixture factor models for the evaluation of educational programs#x2019; effectiveness -- A class of statistical models for evaluating services and performances -- Choices and conjoint analysis: critical aspects and recent developments -- Robust diagnostics in university performance studies -- A novel global performance score with an application to the evaluation of new detergents -- Nonparametric tests for the randomized complete block design with ordered categorical variables -- A permutation test for umbrella alternatives -- Nonparametric methods for measuring concordance between rankings: a case study on the evaluation of professional profiles of municipal directors En línea: http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/978-3-7908-2385-1 Link: https://biblioteca.cunef.edu/gestion/catalogo/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=34114 Statistical Methods for the Evaluation of Educational Services and Quality of Products [documento electrónico] / SpringerLink (Online service) ; Monari, Paola ; Matilde Bini ; Piccolo, Domenico ; Salmaso, Luigi . - Heidelberg : Physica-Verlag HD : Imprint: Physica, 2009 . - XV, 243 p : online resource. - (Contributions to Statistics, ISSN 1431-1968) .
